Romance is Dead

Chapter 8 - Mistakes

After getting out of the bus, with soldiers all around us we were walking pair by pair for a row of teenager, Zira is in front of me with her brother she is holding his hand tight and I look to my partner who is a girl about 18 to 19 or possibly younger with a black and muddy hoodie I try to look at her but hair was all over her face and I look at her hands which were very very pale and I notice a slight scratch which is in between her wrist and her knuckles it was surrounded by an area of red skin, she pulls her over-sized hoodie around herself giving me a slight glare probably noticing that I was looking at her but I couldn't care much I just want to rest peacefully for a moment.

They started counting everyone and said the usual rules to not get into fights with others and to report anything suspicious to the nearest authorities and after that they all went to position themselves to better guard the hotel.

"I am sooo tired I think I'm gonna fall asleep standing" said Zira after getting back to her normal self,
"okay you guys go to the 1st room in the 1st floor and I'll tell some people which room we'd be in so they can call us if something happens"
"Okay" they started walking to the room together and I noticed that Zayn hasn't spoke a word all this time I guess he's just a little scarred about all of this and I would also be scarred about today's episode but I start to walk towards as many people I can and repeat the same words "we are in the room 202 if something happens please call us or let us know"

I started walking towards the room and I noticed that the girl I walked inside to the hotel with is nowhere to be seen but I just kept on walking maybe she went inside a room and just slept like we did

Going up the stairs I could feel myself getting more exhausted in each step and finally made it I opened the door and went into the room it was huge, beautiful and I looked around what looked like a living room and went inside a room which was the bedroom where Zira and Zayn were sleeping like babies, so I just thought it was better if I just stick to the couch I lie down on the couch and started relaxing myself and thankfully without any thoughts about Ruby I feel myself going unconscious and then it's all dark.

I wake up to a scream and I bolt upright and run into the bedroom where Zayn and Zira were sleeping they were also up and looking at me with fear in their eyes "What do we do?" Zira asked clearly and so I think that walking out right now would be bad idea but it's the only thing we could do right now if we stay in here they might leave us,
"Get up, we're going to see what it is"

 we starting walking to the main door when we could hear sounds of people running and guns being fired we I opened the door and now we clearly heard all the things that was going on we quickly ran towards the stairs we bolted down each step we could hear the screams and running louder and louder and as we opened the door to the lobby. Dead bodies. Everywhere.

Every one of them were bit and ripped, blood everywhere some we're already half turned and once it was over they were going to wake up as undead, we walked slowly looking at the people who were on the ground but snapping out of it I knew that if we don't get out of here soon we are going to become one of them.
"Let's get out of here"

We started speed walking to the exit walking around all the bodies and the blood and all the ripped up parts it's all fresh the blood has just started to dry up but whatever did this isn't far away.

I turned around to see Zira clinging onto her brother's hand and trying not to cry through this mess as we turned the corner to the main exit we saw Reapers we stepped back and peaked from and I saw the long nails the Red rash going all around it's body matching with the blood on it and I recognized who it was it was the girl on the bus the girl with a scratch on her hand her hoodie was now covered in dirt, mud and now blood.

I felt so stupid I should have told someone about her, I should have said something to someone about this and now because of me all of this people had to die, all of this is my fault I closed my eyes for a moment to take this all in Zira grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the spot I was in
"Reece we have to go let's search for another way out" I look back at her she's right it's not much longer before some of the bodies we saw earlier waking up and start to roam around for its victim
"Okay let's search for the fire exit there shouldn't be anything there"
we started walking around trying to find the fire escape and we found the door for the fire escape we opened it and quickly walked. We walked as fast as we could without making much noise we reached the other door and opened it.

The night's cold air hit us, the smell of the forest around this hotel looking around we can only see trees we're in the middle of a forest we noticed that we were probably in the right side of the hotel we walked along the hotel to get in front of it to see if there was anyone or any vehicles there and once we reached it we saw some more Reapers feeding on dead bodies there was no way we could get past that we stopped their for a moment

"What do we do now?" Zira asked looking like she's minutes away from having a breakdown
"Let's go to back side of this hotel there was no way we could stay here it's only few minutes before they finish with their meal now and start to hunt for their next we have a better chance being away from them"

we walked back along the hotel again and as we reached the fire escape we got out earlier we saw shadows coming wish a faint snarl. It was the Reapers they must have caught are scent we started running to the back with absolutely no idea to do when we get there and once we got to the back of the hotel there was a hedge maze that we could faintly see inside was dark as black just dimly lit with the moon light

"Quick in there"
"Wait we can't it's a maze we could get lost in there"
"It's a hedge maze Zira and it's a best chance on losing them and we could find a parking lot behind it maybe" Zira was panicking and Zayn was frighteningly quiet maybe it's all just too much for him but this is what we have to do
"let's go their coming stick close follow the sound of our footsteps"
we ran in and started running randomly trying to find the other side so we could lose them in here and the smell of the hedge walls it's our best hope
As I start to calm down from my panic I realised that I don't hear footsteps behind me I stopped expecting Zira or Zayn to crash on me but nobody does that's when I realised they went the other way but I don't know how they lost my footsteps possibly their senses also went numb because of the panic and got lost I couldn't yell out to them because then the Reapers would also hear me there was no way now I had to make it out of here so I could try and call out to them I walked around maping the place in my mind trying to know where I am going and hoping to run into them or finding the way out turn after turn and trying to guess which way to go or which direction I should go and suddenly and that's when I heard a scream and it was Zayn's
