The sudden sound of my phone ringing woke me up from my sleep.

Shotting my eyes open, I reached out my arm to grab my phone off the lamp table. I squinted when the bright light illuminated in the dark bedroom and it took a second or two before my eyes adjusted to see the screen clearly.

Unknown Number

Could it be . . . .

"Let's exchange phone numbers."

"Why?"

Nonetheless, he handed over his phone and I typed in my contact number before passing it back to him.

"When you need help."

I didn't hesitate to swipe the answer button and press the phone to my ear.

"Luca?"

Rapid breathing was heard on the other side of the line and using my elbow I pushed myself up.

In an alert tone, I called, "Luca?"

"H . .help . . ."

After I told her the address, I hung up the call.

About twenty minutes have passed.

Why am I even sure she would come?

"That someone who wants to help you, Luca, exists."

Maybe she's not that someone . . . . .

I took in quick short breaths, closing my eyes as I waited for help.

I waited for her.

But I didn't think about how she'll leave the academy. Students had a 10 pm curfew and it was way past that. 1:00 am to be exact. The headmasters never bothered about me so sneaking out was easy. Heck, they probably thought I didn't attend anymore and was no longer a student at Winxsor.

However, Kristine . . . . .

"I found him!"

When I thought things couldn't get worst, I was caught hiding in the narrow footpath behind the bar, vulnerable with my back leaning against the wall and wounded. Badly.

My eye opened and I saw the two men starting running in my direction, panic rushed through me.

I couldn't outrun them, not in the state I'm currently in.

"Think you could run from us, kid?", the gruff guy spat out, glaring down at me.

I gritted my teeth. When I attempted to move, I groaned, my wound gushing out more blood. The two started to stalk towards me and my breathing stopped when I saw the bat the other one held.
