"Hide."

Anastasia hissed and patted the boy's shoulder. In a rushed, exhilarated manner, they crouched, stumbling slightly and hiding from view by the stone fence in front of them. Laughter tumbled past their lips as they relished their mischief. They looked at each other and laughed even more.

Anastasia carefully peeked over the fence and out to the grounds below. When she noticed the people passing by were gone, she turned to Hugo, the little boy she was with, and said, "Alright. They're gone."

Hugo. Son of the Baron of France, and the Baroness, Corilla Molho—also, Contessa's firstborn. Nine years of age, brown skin, brown eyes, and a vibrant smile; dearly loved by all. He enjoyed getting himself in trouble, and Anastasia had quickly become a hand in that.

Hugo stood and passed one of the pebbles to Anastasia. They waited for someone else to pass by. When a pair of guards were walking by, Hugo had to shake Anastasia's arm to signal her—since her attention had been occupied by someone else.

Elijah Mikaelson had joined them on the balcony. Anastasia squeezed Hugo's shoulder as if to tell him it would be just a moment that she will talk to this man. Hugo shrugged and threw the pebbles.

"Lord Elijah," Anastasia greeted him with a smile.

Elijah was to reply when the shouting of the guards interrupted him, making Anastasia flinch and mutter a breezy apology. Elijah glanced over to the angered guards and Anastasia towards Hugo who had taken it to hide beneath the stone fence before he could be discovered. Anastasia glared at the boy, causing him to laugh and press his finger over his lips for her not to snitch.

Anastasia peeked over the railing. "I seem to have misplaced my rocks. Apologies!"

       The guards grumbled off.

Anastasia turned to Hugo and raised a finger as if telling him that'll be the only time she'll cover for him. Hugo grinned.

Once all aside, Elijah began, "Lady Anastasia, I don't think we've had the chance to properly meet." They were barely acquaintances.
