As I stepped off the bus the wind whipped around my hair sending waves over my face but through the curtains of my fiery locks I spotted him and suddenly the air got so cold it felt heated and I was the one to get burnt. I stood stilted, just eyeing up the interaction before me.

"Who is that?" I uttered to Cam, frozen to the spot and not just because of the icy air.

"Lexi Adams-Taylor. Only the coolest, hottest, most popular girl at school. She's a year older than all of us but she didn't make the credits to graduate with her class. Isn't she gorgeous?"

I didn't notice her phenomenal curves first, or her edgy style. I didn't pay attention to how her ebony bob looked slick and glossy or how the bangs really framed her face in the most pleasing way.

I noticed how Arlo laughed with her, genuinely. How there was no smirk attached to his face. She greeted him with a hug, but not just any hug, one of those 'leap into your arms' type of hugs and he caught her, spinning her around in a full circle before setting her down.

I swallowed. Compared to her I was an Umper Lumper having a bad hair day.

I watched them converse, words flowed freely between them, no awkwardness in sight. When she laughed at his jokes it wasn't because she wanted to impress him, it was because she found him funny. They were close, comfortable with one another.

She hiked away, a collection of minions following behind her and Arlo watching each one of her steps.

He spoke in short to some of the guys around him but then his eyes lingered my way and he shared with me a small expression of surprise. He raised his two fingers to his forehead and saluted me.

Saluted me.

What the fuck was he saluting me for?

I stormed through the school to get away from him and his sick satisfying grin. I didn't understand this primal rage I felt. My emotions were out of check and I couldn't comprehend them.

That little dick kissed me without my consent. He then gave me flirtatious comments. And why? To mock me? Clearly I wasn't up to Lexi's standards of beautiful, so was I just an ongoing joke to him?

Bastard.

"Arlo Peers, what time do you call this?"

"Nap time?" He even smirked at the teacher, sending her into a fit of rage. He walked past our desk and took a seat somewhere at the front.

I was buzzing with pride that I had survived practically the whole day without seeing him, but now here he was. I pursed my lips and slumped down into my seat, he wasn't in the last biology class so why the fuck was he here now?

"You're on your last warning Peers, you're already failing my class." He dragged an empty chair in front of his desk and rested his feet up on it carelessly.
