"Hey, Jaeseok." Jinyoung seemed relieved that he picked up.
It was the next night, and Jinyoung had already disclosed a plan to us. Get a knife, send Seunghun and Jinyoung into Seojun's tent, kill him, and leave with the help of Jaeseok. I didn't quite know why Seunghun was necessary, but maybe Jinyoung just needed the moral support.
"In two nights. So not tonight or tomorrow night, but the next night."
I'd never seen Jinyoung so quiet. This was a completely different side of him. Not the sarcastic side that I'd first met and become friends with. Not the insanely depressed and traumatized side of him we'd come home to after the hike either. He was just... blank. Serious. Concentrated.
"Great." And Jinyoung hung up his burner. His gaze focused back on us, but the look on his face wasn't gone. "We're good for an... escape, for lack of a better word. Now there's just everything else. We can deal with that tomorrow."
Seunghun raised his eyebrows. "Alright then."
With that, Jinyoung, Yonghee, and I left. Yonghee held a flashlight in his hands, about to turn it on, but another beacon of light in the distance stopped him.
"Quiet," Jinyoung whispered. I didn't dare to make a sound.
"Ack– Sunghoon!"
I recognized the voice. It was that girl that Yonghee cared about so much. I could hear his breath hitch beside me, but Jinyoung stayed completely silent. The two of them retreated away from the camp and towards the woods.
Once they left, Jinyoung held out his hand towards Yonghee. "Yonghee, flashlight."
"Head to sleep, guys," Jinyoung said quietly, opening the cabin door methodically so it wouldn't creak. He already knew his way around.
"Wait," I whispered, "you're not coming?"
"No," Jinyoung replied. "I'm just going to see what they're up to."
I walked towards my bed, light on my feet, though I could hear Yonghee and Jinyoung's hushed voices continue before the door clicked shut.
