Chapter 6: Cheer Up

I asked Chaewon about what she did while we were away from each other. She had a thinking posture and answered me with a cheery tone.

" Do you remember when I asked you about your goals? "

" Yeah, why? "

" I wanted to study together with you but you were still unsure. "

" Ah, that was a mistake on my part. "

Chaewon smiled at my statement but I feel like she is regretting something. I kept hesitating before gathering up the courage to ask her why.

" Is something wrong, Chaewon? "

" It's just that I regret not spending time with you. "

Chaewon stared at the string bracelet that we both share. She gave a warm smile before looking up and staring into my eyes. Her ears were gradually getting red. She did not look away this time. I did not know how to react to a situation such as this.

" Your face is red, Y/N. "

" You too. "

" It must be the cold. "

Chaewon and I laughed softly. We definitely had the same experience during the time we were separated. I can tell. Eventually, Minju and Yena came running towards us.

" It's your turn now. "

" Yeah! "

" Let's go, Y/N. "

" Mhm! Let's go! "

I feel exhilarated and ended up jogging towards the playground swing. I sat down and gestured for Chaewon to hurry. She took tiny steps towards the playground swing. I had to take out my phone and snap a picture of her. It was a first for me.

" Did you just take a picture of me? "

" No...? "

" Are you sure? "

" I did take a picture of you. "

Chaewon giggled and told me to just keep that picture. That was really cool of her. I definitely fell for her even harder when she said that. I can hear my heart beating loudly. I kept my phone in my pocket and moved slowly on the playground swing.

" This is really nostalgic. "

" It sure is. "

" I guess we never grew up, huh? "

" You're right about that. "

I thought that being at the playground would fill the empty feeling in my heart. It still feels hollow for some reason. I kept pondering.

" What's on your mind? "

" Nothing much. "

" It's bad if you keep things to yourself, Y/N. "

" I know. "

I gave a thumbs up to her and she patted my shoulder. Chaewon suddenly stood up from her seat and stood behind me. I was bewildered by her sudden action.

" Let me push you. "

" No no, let me push you instead. "

" It's okay, let me do it! "

" I insist! "

Chaewon had a troubled look on her face. She thought really hard about it until she started frowning. I laughed softly at the cute face she was making. She took my offer and sat back at her seat.

" Are you ready to fly? "
