Uncle James' story about Chancellor Thorn only made me hate him more. He was a man who I believed, was not worthy of his position. He acted like a preacher, they way he spoke about mates and how my actions went against our beliefs. Yet, he was one those men that tried to convey something that didn't belong to him. It infuriated me more because he was trying to convey my beautiful and kind grandmother. I didn't have to interact with him much to know that he was unworthy.

As we got closer to the pack hall, my eyes caught Alpha Thomas Samuels. He was stood with his parents, both of whom had scowls on their faces. His arms were failing up and down why he spoke with them in hushed whispers; even though I couldn't see his face, anyone could see he was frustrated. My eyes caught his father's who was red in the face, he didn't have that calm and warm composure that he had when I visited him last night. I sensed that he was irritated by his son, over what? I could only speculate.

As we walked pass, he gave me a sympathetic smile and his wife had hung her head. I could sense that she was ashamed and did not know what to say to me. A part of me wanted to tell her that she had nothing to be ashamed of, she wasn't responsible for his actions. He was an adult, one that was in authority who knew better. She didn't tell him to reject his mate. I knew from my conversation with Thomas' father that they were good people. They had given him everything they needed, they gave him the knowledge about our values as wolves and he had chosen to go against that. He went against their teachings.

I couldn't help but shake my head in disappointment as I entered the hall. I didn't take time to look around the room. I didn't want to see people's pity, it was misplaced. I didn't deserve their pity, if anything they were the one who should feel my gaze pitying them. They had an Alpha who cared more about his interests than his pack. What kind of role model did they have? The Alpha was someone who went against everything we believed in.

As I looked straight forward all I could do was see Chancellor Thorn stood front and centre. Some people would at him and see confidence, however all I saw was a man who was filled with arrogance. I didn't waver when he looked at me, his eyes were cold and his lips quirked in the corner as if he was almost smirking at me. I could see Uncle James' shoulders hitch at the man in front of us. I didn't have to guess that he was about to throw a spanner in my life that was sure to only anger me.

I took my allocated seat next to Uncle James. He took his set casually, while I couldn't help but sit with my back straight, the tension in my shoulders was visible. I waited patiently as I heard the heavy steps of Alpha Thomas walk through the aisle that spilt the pack. I didn't know what to think about him, all I could tell was that my wolf was frustrated by the human counterpart of her mate. I wondered if she had any communication with his wolf.

"Welcome, thank you all for your quick return." Chancellor Thorn bellowed through the pack. No one responded, there was a heavy silence that carried through the pack hall, a pin could drop and you would hear it.

"As you all know, this is a summons regarding your Alpha Thomas Samuels and his mate, Eleanor Richards. I have discussed the situation with my fellow Elders and we have decided on a course of action." My heart hammered at his words. "We have decided that Alpha Thomas Samuels and Eleanor Richards have not been given... sufficient time to develop a relationship between them. Although that fault is because of your Alpha. It is decided that Elenor Richards has responsibilities to the pack as she is your destined and rightful Luna."

I couldn't help but curl my palm inwards and fist my hand. I could feel my irritation rise at his words. "Therefore it has been decided that Alpha Thomas Samuels and Eleanor Richards will be subjected to spend thirty days together."

I couldn't help but laugh at his words. The audacity of these people telling me how I must live my life. The laugh that left my lips was not one that was filled with happiness but one that was dark and sarcastic. My head was shaking at the words he shed, like my life was something that he could control.

"Is something funny Miss Richards?" Chancellor Thorn coldly questioned. I could sense he was irritated by reaction, he was intimidated by my presence. He didn't like me challenging him. I could see James give me a pleading look but I wouldn't back down, not when he is playing chess with my life. I ignored him and took up tall, with my head held high and my back straight.

"Yes, something is funny. Your fucking decision is an absolute joke!" I scoffed. "Is my life a joke you Elders? Do you think that it is funny to make a mockery of my rejection? You talk about my responsibilities to this pack but I was rejected? Do you truly think me spending thirty days with that dickhead will make me change my mind? Will make me fall in love and accept the bond between us?" I dryly chuckled as I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Honestly, do you have daughter Chancellor Thorn, Elders?" I looked at them with a harsh look. "Would you honestly send your daughters off to spend thirty days with man who deemed them unworthy? Who coldly rejected you because he was in love" I gestured with my four fingers, bending them dramatically in the air. "- with someone else? Would you respect a man that would go against our whole belief system to be with someone that didn't belong to him?" I shook my head.

No one said anything. I could see Chancellor Thorn snarl, his hands were curling into a fist, I could see his anger at me challenging him. While the other two Elder's looked on in shook, one of them at least had the decency to hang their head at my words. At least one of them seemed to have a conscience when it came to my words, but still they refused to say anything.

"Typical. Of course you have nothing to say. Well, I may be a wolf but I will tell you this now. To be treated like this, to be forced to spend time with a man I despise by someone in power, is truly despicable. I thought your role would be to punish those who had committed sins and save those who are a victim." Again I chuckled.

"But I'll comply with your backwards ruling. But mark my words Chancellor Thorn you will regret this."

"DO NOT THREATEN YOUR SUPERIORS MISS RICHARDS!" Thorn bellowed out.

"Of course, Chancellor Thorn." I sarcastically bowed to him, raising my head so my eyes meet his. I wanted him to see how serious my words are. "But what would a man like you know about respecting mates. Didn't you once reject your true mate for my grandmother?"

His face blanched at my words, while the other Elder's looked at me in confusion. I couldn't help but smirk as he realised that my gun was loaded and ready to fire. "Ahh, I see you kept that a secret. I would suggest before you speaking about mates you investigate those closes to you. How can one pass a judgement on mates when he has no value of understanding those same laws."

With my words hanging in the air, I gave James an apologetic look who was resting his head in the palm of his hand. I didn't have the energy to argue with with him or defend my actions. I just took my leave from the hall before glancing at the pack members who were looking at me in shock and awe at my actions.

Chancellor Thorn you may have won the battle, but I swear an oath to the Goddess that you have not won the war. I will have my revenge for you playing with my life.
