Chapter 8: I Can't Do This

Scarlett's POV:

I hear Dustin's footsteps as he slowly inches inside the room. His eyes shoot right to me lying flat on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

He stops as he reaches the bed. I slowly look away from the ceiling and straight at him. I can tell he wants to sit down, but I don't let him. He opens his mouth to speak but I cut him off as I stand up quickly.

"No! Don't say a word! I need to talk to you and you are going to listen without any interruptions!! Do you understand me!?!?!" I say sharply. He nods, and I walk past him and he follows me.

"Okay, so here's the thing. You say I have a wolf gene and that I can turn into a wolf. Okay, so I understand that that's true, but what I'm not understanding is this whole "mate" thing. You said that it's basically a wolf finding their "soulmate", but I'm not a real wolf. I can't be! I've been in the system since I was a baby. I recently got out, because I turned 18. And not soon after I find out I can turn into a wolf. And, I'm brought here to the middle of nowhere, only to be yelled at!!! No!! I'm not having it!!!"

I finally stop speaking, and turn back to look at Dustin who is silently staring at me. "You can speak now!!!" I snap at him.

Dustin's POV:

She finally stops speaking and turns back to look at me. I watch her silently and she snaps at me causing me to jump.

"You can speak now!!!" She snaps and I jump.

"What do you mean by 'you're not having it'!?!?!" I snap at her.

"I mean, I CAN'T DO THIS!!!!!!!!" She yells at me and quickly turns to her wolf and runs into the forest. I stand there shocked, before realizing that she left. I quickly turn into my wolf and run in the direction she took off running in.

I'm trying to find her scent, but it's disappeared. I'm sending messages to everyone in the pack telling them to find her and not let her leave. I'm freaking out, and running everywhere through the forest hoping to find her. But, she's gone.

Scarlett's POV:

I take off running in my wolf form, no idea where I'm going, but I don't care. I just keep moving forward.

Lexi is howling in pain and anger. She's screaming at me for abandoning our mate, but I ignore her.

I finally reach a road when I hear a howl behind me. I pick up my speed as much as I can. I start running down the road until I reach town. I stop behind a tree near Ryan's house, knowing I can't go there like this. But if I change then I'll be completely naked. I look around and find some clothes in a bush a few feet away. I quickly change back to human and get dressed. I run to Ryan's house and start banging on the door and screaming.

"Ryan, let me in!!! Come on, open the door!!!"
I scream until he finally opens the door and I run in. I slam the door behind me and lock it before turning and placing my whole backside against it.

Here's the next chapter! Sorry it took so long, but I kept getting distracted. Plus I had NO IDEA WHAT TO WRITE!!!!
