Melanie clicked at the top of the text conversation where the name "sebby" showed up, and clicked on the little phone icon. She put the phone to her ear and Sebastian picked up immediately.

"What's up?" she asked, a little nervousness in her voice. "Is something wrong?"

"No, no," he said. She could hear excitement in his voice.  "Nothing's wrong.  Okay, firstly, I wanted to hear your voice."

"Oh, I miss you so much," she said, smiling at his sweetness.  She flopped onto the bed, looking up at the ceiling as she talked to him.  "I can't wait to see you on Tuesday."

"Open the door," he said.  Mel heard the grin in his voice.

"What?" she questioned.

"Open your door," he said again.

Mel scrunched her eyebrows and got up off the bed.  She went out of her bedroom and through the main living area to her front door.  She turned the knob and the door opened.  She gasped when she saw someone standing there.

"Surprise," said Sebastian, the biggest grin on his face, phone still to his ear.

Melanie stood there staring at him with a smile on her face as she hung up the phone.

"Sebastian!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms around him.  He hugged back, putting the phone down.

"Melanie," he whispered.  He put his hand on her cheeks as they broke the hug.

"Sebastian," she whispered again, leaning in for a long awaited kiss.  He held her face softly, and she put her arms around him.  They stood in the door way there for multiple seconds.

Their foreheads touched when they separated.  "You're early," she whispered.

"Press tour ended two days ahead of schedule," he said in reply.  He placed another kiss on her lips.  They looked into each other's eyes for a short moment.  Sebastian smiled, then began backing into the apartment, towards Mel's bedroom.  Keen on the idea, Mel smirked and followed along.

"What — mm," He kissed her, interrupting her statement, "What happened to dinner?" she asked.

"I'm not waiting," he said.  He opened the door to the bedroom.  Melanie giggled when she was pushed onto the bed.

Standing over her on the bed,  he kissed her over and over.  She did the same, holding him by the collar of his shirt.  He ran kisses up her cheek and through her hair, then down her neck and her arm.  She indulged him, allowing him to give her each soft kiss.

"Sebastian," she whispered, as he ran his soft lips back up her arm.

"Hmm," he replied.

"I love you."

He picked his head up and looked at her with loving eyes.  The blue looked green from Melanie's point of view.   A small amount of sunset yellow light peeked through the closed curtains, lighting one half of the couple's faces.

"I love you, Melanie," he said softly.  "I love you, I love you, I love you."

She sat up a little and pulled him onto the bed.

"I love you," she repeated, now in a whisper.  She pulled his shirt off.

[two days later]

The line rang on the other end.  Macy Lienda waited for her beast friend to pick up. It was only nine p.m. — surely she was awake. She hadn't talked to Melanie in a couple days, and was apprehensive for an update on hers and Sebastian's relationship.

There was a noise when the phone stopped buzzing, and Melanie picked up.

"Macyyyy," said Melanie, dragging out the end. "What's upppp? Hiiiii!" Her words went up and down in pitch and dragged on even after the sentence was over.

Macy heard whispering on the other end. "Say hi," said Mel's voice.

"Hiii, Mary," dragged on another voice, in a happy tone.

"Is that —" Macy began. "Melanie, was that Sebastian?"

Melanie giggled. "Maybe."

Macy smiled at her friend. "Melanie, where are you right now?"

Melanie took a second to reply — Macy assumed she was observing the surroundings.

"A bar," she replied.

"Mel, are you and Sebastian... drunk?"

"Mayyyybe." Macy heard the smile in her friend's voice.

"Ay, Melanie," said Macy playfully, rolling her eyes.  "Do you have a ride back to your place?  You know I'm not letting you drive, nor Sebastian drive you drunk."

"You know I love you, Macy," said Mel.  "I'm not that drunk.  I know to call an Uber and all that."

"And I'd never drive her drunk," said Sebastian.

"And besides, we walked," said Melanie.

Sebastian giggled a little. "And we're walking back soon," he said.

"I see," said Macy.  "Did you at least tell him, Melanie?"

"Tell him what?"

"Yeah, tell me what?" butted in Sebastian.

"The thing we talked about the other day," said Macy. "Y'know, the..."

"Ohhhh, thattt," said Mel, slurring the words.  "She's talking about the I love you," she explained to Sebastian.

"I love you, too," said Sebastian.

Melanie laughed a little.  "He's drunker than me," Mel said.

"I can tell," smiled Macy.  "And I'm glad you told him.  Hey, I'll let you go, alright?"

"I'll have fun," said Melanie.

"Not too much," said Macy.

"You know that's impossible," said Melanie.

Macy laughed.  "Love you, Mel," she told her friend.

"Love you more," giggled Melanie.

Macy smiled and hung up the phone.  She was so glad her friend was happy — and even more glad they had taken the next step in the relationship.  Who knows — next she could very well be the maid of honor at the sebanie wedding.
