Taylor's POV

The weather this evening was crazy in New York.

The drizzle of rain splattering on the car window fell around us as we continued to drive to Nicolas's mom's house.

The party started at five and it was now 4:45. We were about 10 or so minutes away from the house.

After a short amount of time we finally arrived at his Mom's house, the unsettling nervous feeling in my stomach only growing worse.

Nicolas gets out and walks around the car, opening my door for me.

"Thank you," I smile, hitching my purse over my shoulder.

"You ready?" Nicolas asks me, grabbing my hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"Yeah, I think so," I answer, nodding slowly. We walk towards the front door of the house as I rub my hand on my dress anxiously.

Nicolas pushed open the door, the warmth immediately embracing my body and warming my body up from the chilly evening.

He slides off his jacket and hangs it on the coat hanger before he grabs my hand again as we make our way into the warm, cozy house.

People are seated on the couch and standing up with a drink in their hand and their lips chatting away.

"Honey!"

An unfamiliar sweet voice yells as I turn my head to see a dark haired woman runnings towards us.

"Oh hello honey," she cheers as she embraces Nicolas into a bone crushing hug.

"Hey mom," he chuckles, hugging her back. She pulls away, her green eyes locking with mine almost instantly.

"And you must be Taylor! Nicolas has told me so much about you!" She gleams pulling me into a tight hug.

"Hi," I smile, chuckling softly.

"I'm Nicolas's mom, Nancy," she pulls away, shaking my hand.

"It's so nice to meet you Nancy," I smile sweetly.

"Well don't you look beautiful," she looks down at my attire, her eyes wide with excitement.

I chuckle softly, "Thank you."

"Where's my other son?" Nancy asks.

"He's out with some friends," Nicolas explains.

"I swear, he never has time for his dear old mother anymore," Nancy sighs, shaking her head in disbelief. "Well let's get you something to drink Taylor."

An hour later me and Nancy are talking about Nicolas.

"He speaks so highly of you," she says, looking down at her plate of food.

"Oh does he?" Before she looks back up I look at Nicolas, smirking at him. He rolls his eyes and starts smiling before his mom lifts her head, making me look back at her.

"So what do you want for your birthday this year honey?" Nancy asks.

"Birthday?" I turn my head towards him. "You didn't tell me your birthday was coming up."

"Cause it's not that important," he answers plainly, shrugging his shoulders.

"Well of course it is," I answer back. "You did a lot for my birthday yesterday."

He gulps, looking down at me. I smile innocently, turning back to his mom.

"He doesn't like to celebrate his birthday, but me and Nate still always try to get him to."
