"I'm sorry, but is this seat taken?"
A voice, a husky deep voice greets Lisa's ears as she stares into oblivion with a cup of not hot anymore Espresso in front of her joint hands on the rounded, wooden aesthetic table. Lisa shakes her head as she refuses to make eye contact with whoever is talking.
Her heart is racing. It has been two fucking hours and nobody has told her anything about Rosie. She can't stand sitting in the waiting hall with half of the Park family that might be wondering of why she's there in the first place. So, the built in Starbucks in the lobby is a nice idea of where to loiter as she waits.
But still, the nervousness she is feeling is hard to get rid off.
Lisa registers the sound of the chair next to her being slowly pulled back, the screeching sound it produces really annoys the Thai but she decides to keep her mouth shut for now. She has better things to think about.
Maybe about how Rosie said to her face that the baby isn't hers.
Maybe about how cocky Clare looked like when Rosie demanded she be in the room with her rather than with Lisa.
Maybe, just maybe about all the thoughts she had in her mind before about the blonde, all the possibilities of them that crossed her mind more than once.
Or maybe, about the pain she feels. The pain that is stabbing her fucking chest every time she tries to breathe and acts as if it's not bothering her at all.
Maybe she does think about everything. Maybe it's just too late.
"I'm not going to ask you of why you're here"
Jisoo comments silently as she grabs her iced Americano and has a few sips. Gulping, she looks at Lisa again.
The secretary seems to be distracted and worried. There's something on her eyes that Jisoo recognizes in Jennie's whenever she stares dreamily at her wife.
In their case, it's spelled love.
But in Lisa's? It's baffling.
"You know why I'm here" Lisa clears her throat. "I'm her secretary. It's my duty to always makes sure that she's fine"
"Yeah, sure. You are convincing"
Jisoo smiles as she rests her back against the chair she is sitting on. "But dude, I thought secretaries I ly manage stuff at the office, you know? But you seem ... different"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't mean to say anything that will upset you further"
The second sibling of the Park says. "I'm just saying, I'm the cool sibling. I'm not like my mom or big brother or even my dad. Whatever you might be saying so it's alright if you want say something to me. Like a secret or something..."
"I.Dont.Have.Any.Secret"
Lisa spells out dangerously and Jisoo just looks at her before nodding, her left eyebrow is raised high as she takes another sip of her drink. "Yeah, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, Manoban. I'm just gonna say that the look you give her, my little sister, that just ain't any looks. It's the same look that I give to my wife too, you know"
"You're bluffing"
Lisa stands up, ready to leave when Jennie approaches them both. A glistening tears in her eyes, a small grin on her face.
"What's wrong?"
Jisoo asks confusedly. "Are you alright? Do you wanna pee and the line at the toilet is too long?"
"No, idiot" the petite woman says. "But Rosie has just given birth"
The news drop like a bomb on Lisa. She pauses for a second. "And it's a healthy baby girl. She's in the ward already if you wanna see her"
"That's cool"
Jisoo sighs happily as she finishes her drink and dumps the empty cup into the trash bin She grabs Jennie's hand and laces their fingers together before looking at a frozen Lisa.
"You coming, Ms. Secretary?"
Jisoo asks and it takes everything in Lisa to yell a yes.
But her conscience is somehow jealous and hurt so she shakes her head uttering a firm no.
"I should head back" she says flatly. "It's getting dark anyway"
"At least see the baby" Jisoo states, still trying to lure the secretary. "If you don't wanna see the mom"
Lisa takes a moment to consider. "That's a nice offer, but thank you"
She says as she walks away.
If Rosie famously claimed the baby as just hers in front of her mom, Lisa knows she wouldn't want the Thai to be the first to see her baby anyway.
When she steps outside, the rain falls as if understanding the storm in her heart. But Lisa ignores the way the sprinkles of water from the skies wetting her suit.
