It's been a few days since I started to avoid Peter and stop speaking.
I've kept myself busy by cleaning, listening to music, reading random books with Parrish or helping Derek cook.
Parrish was in the loft while Derek examined his hands. He shared a look with me and Scott.
"He covered you in gasoline?" Derek asks.
"It's the hair and nails, isn't it? The parts of the body that are essentially dead?" Lydia asked.
"Well, they should be gone." Derek said.
"I was set on fire, all of me should be gone." Parrish says. Immediately all eyes went to me.
Scott noticed this and spoke up.
"Not if you're like us."
"Like you?"
"I don't think he's like us."
"Then what is he?"
"Sorry, but I have no idea." Derek said.
"But you knew about Jackson and Kira."
"This is a little out of my experience. There might be something in the bestiary, did you try Argent?"
"I don't know where he is."
"Okay, hold on. What's a bestiary? Actually, that's not even my first question, just..just tell me one thing."
"Are all of you like Lydia?" Parrish asks.
I looked at him confused. "Are you all psychic?"
"Psychic?"
"Yeah."
"Not exactly." Scott said.
"Okay, then what are you?"
Scott looks at Derek and Derek shrugs.
Scott closes his eyes and turns to Parrish again. When he opens them, his eyes are red.
After explaining everything, Parrish just looked even more confused. "What's a kanima?"
"We'll get back to that. Just know that everyone like us, everyone with some kind of supernatural ability is on the dead pool."
"But I don't even know what I am."
"I'm pretty sure they don't care." Derek muttered. I elbowed his side and he frowned at me. "Hey!"
"How many professional assassins are we talking about?"
"We're staring to lose count."
"But is it still just professionals?"
"I don't think Haigh's ever tried anything like this. I think he was taking a chance."
"That means anyone with the dead pool could take a chance."
"But if Haigh had it, then who else does? How easy is it to get this thing now?"
While everyone else continued talking, I decided to read. Lydia started talking about her grandmother and I started to think about Peter.
He doesn't know where I am and I don't know where he is. When Lydia and Parrish left, Scott started walking around. He had found Derek's handgun.
I walked up behind him. "Careful with that."
He turned around quickly and I took the gun from his hand as Derek walked in.
"I thought you didn't like guns? Does this have something to do with your eyes?"
"My eyes, my strength, the healing. All of it."
