Some parts of the underworld were actually rather beautiful. The ones that weren't in the pits of Tartarus that is. The springs and cleaning pools, the rivers, the open fields of underworld fauna and the carefully crafted pillars and statues that scattered the chambers. L had explored a good chunk of the underworld by now, but there were still hidden coroners he hadn't seen yet.
After the 24 hours up on the surface thanks to Zagreus' boon you and L needed a little extra time to recharge before going back. So you figured you'd kill some time by exploring the underworld and showing L all the hidden areas.
"Hmm... maybe we can load up the footage when no one is looking so when they come back-"
"L! This is our break. We can think about Kira later. I know you have one hell of a grudge Megera would be proud of but chill for a moment ok?" You said.
"R-right. I guess after our little victory I've gotten all exited about finally beating this case" L replied.
"Fair enough, but just relax for a bit ok? Don't stress yourself out. Now keep up!"
L wasn't sure where you were taking him, you'd knocked on his door mid nap and dragged him out to show him something. That mask Hypnos gave him really did end up being his favourite object ever, all those living years of list sleep he could finally get back. And boy had he been napping a lot.
You were leading him through Elysium up the river Lethe and past the caves of Hypnos and Thanatos, so pretty far off away from the civilisation down here.
"So are you going to tell me where we're going or..?" He said.
"You'll see. It'll be worth the walk I promise" you replied.
Cryptic as usual for the underworld. He was rather impressed that you'd managed to explore so much of the underworld and memorise it all in your years down here. You'd had a long while to do so, but the underworld was so big he still found it impressive. By now the light of the main areas of Elysium was dying out and the path up the river was lit with green flames atop torches giving the area an ominous glow. It was silent away from the population of shades and the only sounds around were the flow of the river and path beneath your feet.
"You know there's a lot of magic out there, it's just humans aren't able to use it because we don't have the right stuff in your body to be compatible with it. That's why as a shade when he leave our body behind we can interact with it more" you explained.
"I've given up on understanding how magic works. I just accept that it does" L replied.
"That's the spirit. I don't think anyone really knows exactly how it works, they just accept it exists and does things. But there's a few sections of the underworld that hold powers that don't exist anywhere else"
So you were taking him to one of those areas huh? Interesting... he wondered what it could be.
"Alright almost there, be careful these rocks are a bit wobbly" you said, leading him over a rock formation in amongst pomegranate plants.
Pomegranate seemed to be everywhere down here...
Careful he climbed over the rocks after you and wove through a few gaps in the formation until you came upon an opening covered by vines, it seemed to be a ruin of some kind.
"Watch your step" you warned, pulling the vines back and walking through them.
Follow suit he made sure not to slip on any unstable rocks and pushed through the vines. And when he was met with the location you'd taken him, he felt the long walk and interrupted nap was so worth it.
