                       "There it is again,
                      that funny feeling."

It was the night of the formal, and the McCall house was in full chaos. Scott had recruited Melissa to sew his trousers as they had ripped, Max was freaking out because he couldn't even find his suit and Jade was just... panicking.

She was ahead of schedule, unlike the rest of the house. She'd already put on her dress and was half way through her makeup.

She couldn't help but still feel like this night was going to be a disaster. No. It would be fine. She did have a tendency to catastrophize situations. Well that was according to the school guidance counsellor, Ms Morrell.

"Jade!" Max screamed, nearly ripping her door of the hinges as he stormed in.

The yell made her jump, a stroke of eyeliner going halfway up her face. "Max! Jesus Christ, look what I've done now! I could have been getting changed, you need to knock!" she exclaimed, rubbing the mark harshly.

"I'm sorry but this is an emergency! Melissa is helping Scott and I don't know how to do this stupid tie!" he rambled, waving it around like a mad-man.

"Sit down and give me five seconds," she responded, attempting to fix the make-up she had ruined. She hadn't meant to snap at him, she was just really stressed. And yes, she also knew that wasn't a valid excuse, but still.

"I like your dress. It suits you," Max commented, trying to calm his sister down. "Thank yo-" she responded, getting interrupted by a knock on her door.

A tall Stiles Stilinski stood in the doorframe. He was wearing a suit, and actually cleaned up pretty well. "Hi," he said, walking into the room.

"Hey. Will you do me a quick favour and help him with that tie please?" Jade asked, curling her eyelashes.

Stiles stood there awkwardly staring at Max for a second before actually moving to help. Jade smiled to herself at how nervous the two boys got when they were around each other. It was so obvious.

"Um-" Stiles began, clearing his throat loudly. "I like your dress Jade. The colour really brings out your true feelings."

"It's a black dress, Stiles," she replied, a brow raised.

"Yeah! Your feeling are like dreary and dark- and I'm shutting up," he said, looking away from the blondes glare. "There. Finished."

"Thanks. How did you learn how to do a tie?" Max questioned. He mentally made a note to throw himself down the stairs for that.

"My mom taught me when I was younger," Stiles responded with a shrug of his shoulders.

"What time is it?" Jade asked. That was her lousy attempt at getting the conversation to steer away from parents.

"Six fifteen," Stiles replied. "We should probably get going. Do you need a ride?"

"No, we're gonna head in my car," Jade replied, smiling warmly. "Thanks though."

"See you there," Stiles said, running down the stairs.

"So are we both going solo tonight?" Jade questioned as she rushed around her room grabbing her bag and phone. She stood in front of the mirror, tucking the loose strands of hair away from her face.

"Nope!" Max replied, grinning.

Jade turned around quickly, eyes narrowed. "What!"

"A guy from the lacrosse team asked me. His names Ryan," he responded casually.
