Mason pov

At half 6, we were all getting ready to go the garrison for the party. I was ready so just say in my room, staring at the envelope infront of me. I wanted so badly to open it, read what mama had wrote to me but I just couldn't. Voices rang in my head like an alarm bell, telling me to man up and read the god damn letter but everytime i tried to open it, something in me made me put it down

"It's ok if you're not ready" I spun around quickly, almost falling off my chair to see Arthur stood leaning on the door frame

"I'm not scared" I said

"I know. But that doesn't make you ready. Don't force yourself to read it and also, don't worry yourself about it. You'll know when the time is right. Now come on, your sisters finally ready" he said walking out. I decided to leave the letter until later

We walked out of the house and I walked to dad's car but no one followed

"What? I'm going the party alone?" I sarcastically asked laughing and baffled

"No but I thought we could take your car" Dad said smirking. A car, being drove by finn, came into the driveway. Finn got out and stood by the car

"Nice ain't she" he said

"Ugh...er...huh" I was speechless but the smile on my face seemed enough. Lydia ran over and linked her arms with mine. She then dangled some keys infront of my face

"You're gonna need these" she said smiling. I grabbed them and jumped in the car

"You like it?" Arthur asked

"It's amazing. Thank you so much dad" I said not being able to wipe the smile off my face

"You're very welcome. Now let's get going" he got in the car as did finn and lyd. The drive there was so fun. It felt so cool to own my very own car. We pulled up outside the garrison where John Michael and Tommy were

"Gonna pick up all the ladies with this" John said referring to the car

"I don't need a car for that. My pure handsomeness has always been enough" I replied smugly. They chuckled and then we walked into the pub. There were alot of people there, most already drunk. We went over to the women of the family and they all wished me happy birthday

"Mason, come dance" Lydia said grabbing my hand. We started dancing to the music, laughing as if all our troubles were finally over. And maybe they were. Maybe now, after so many years of hurt, we finally got our happy ending. When the song finished, we sat down next to a bottle of whiskey. I started to drink it and offered some to lyd

"Oh no thanks. I actually want my organs to work after I turn 30" she said grinning sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and carried on drinking

Lydia pov

The whole night was great. I hadn't realised before now, but the music, i could hear it. I mean, I didn't have to make out any words like you do when people talk. I just listened to the rhythm and it felt so relaxing. At 9 o'clock, a certain bitch walked in known as

Dun...dun....duuuuunnnn.....LINDA!!!!

OK so maybe I'm being dramatic! Or maybe I'm completely correct. She is a bitch who deserves nothing more than a hole and a cross to crucify herself on. She came over and kissed Arthur making me and Mason fake gag causing our family to laugh. Linda said something to me but I had no idea what she said. I watched as my family explained to her I couldn't hear and she started writing something down

'Happy 13th birthday Lydia-Rose' Now in this situation, do I correct her and make her look like a fool, or do I just run with it? Answer, I run with it until she makes herself look like a fool without my help

"Thank you Linda. That's very sweet" she smiled at me and went with Arthur to get a drink

"What does it say?" Mason signed. We used this sign alot so picked it up fast. I handed him the letter and he almost chocked on his whiskey before laughing

'She really is clueless. Oh god she's gonna be our step mother!' He wrote. I read it and put my head on his shoulder in defeat. Then some girl came over to us and started saying something to mason but I obviously couldn't hear

'Is it OK if I go dance with Tilly?' He wrote. I smirked and elbowed him to go. He kissed my cheek and then left. John sat down next to me clearly drunk. But that's quite usual. After we had talked for abit, a boy came over and said something to me making John tense

"Hi. I'm sorry I'm deaf so I can't hear you. Would you mind writing it down?" I said handing him the paper. I didn't feel embarrassed about my lack of hearing. Not like it's something that can be helped and its not my fault

'I'm Liam. You're very pretty and I was just wondering if you wanted to go dance with me' He wrote. Not what I was expecting. I blushed immediately

"I'd love to" I said trying to sound calm but failing. John raised his eyebrow at me

"I'll be fine John boy. Just don't tell daddy" I said. I then went off to go dance with Liam. He was actually quite handsome. He had brunette hair and gorgeous brown eyes. He was taller than me but not by too much. Oh what am I saying? I'm crushing and i met the boy no more than 10 seconds.

After the dance, we went over to the bar and had as much of a conversation as you can on paper. I found out that he's from London, cockney. I found out he used to work in uncle Alfie bakery and he turned 16 a few days ago. We got on well and we had been talking for hours without realising. But it was sort of ruined when Linda came over

'You shouldn't be talking to strangers Lydia Rose. I say this because I love you'

"He's not a stranger. Not anymore anyway" I replied. I could tell Liam felt uncomfortable and so did I

'What are you a whore? Going around with strange men' she wrote. As soon as I read it I slapped her round the face. I pushed her to the ground and we started fighting but someone pulled me off. I turned around to see Ada holding me back although she did look weirdly happy. Linda stormed out and dad pointed his finger at me sternly before going after her

'I think I better go' Liam handed me the note before leaving the pub. I huffed in annoyance that I blew my shot. We carried on the rest of the night, I tried to cheer up but only did when aunt pol came over. She grabbed the piece of paper, flipped it over and showed me the other side

'Call me **********' I was so happy. I squealed in excitement and made aunt pol laugh

"I just met a boy. And I liked him. And he liked me. This had never happened before!" I said hyperventilating but still smiling and giggling

'Calm down. Tomorrow morning, call him and arrange to meet up for a date. Go the pictures of something'

"Daddy would never let me do that" i said

'Let me worry about your father. You just worry about not losing that number' she kissed my head and then I went to go tell ada who was just as excited as me. God this has been a good party
