You felt the van stop moving, and doors slam.
Then doors opened.
And the box you were in was moved. You dropped the phone and started to banging on the metal.
"Somebody! Someone help! Please!"
The box was shaking as it was being carried, and you continued to bang on the sides.
"Please! Someone! I'm in here! Ple- AAAAAH!"
You screamed as you fell.
Your head hit the walls several times, enough to make you dizzy but not yet unconscious.
All of a sudden, the falling slowed down, but didn't stop.
---
"NO!" Bucky cried.
He urged the motorbike to go faster to get to the bridge.
He saw the super soldiers that had just thrown you over the side.
But he ignored them.
He quickly jumped off the bridge.
---
You were sinking.
You felt water by your feet.
"No, no, no" you sobbed.
You banged on the door of the box desperately.
The water was filling up fast. It got to your waist.
You were already struggling to breathe as you couldn't stop yourself from crying.
"Please" you hit the door again, even though you knew no one could hear you.
It got to your neck.
---
Bucky pushed through the water towards the box that was still sinking in front of him.
It was getting darker as he got deeper.
---
You tilted your head back so your face was still above the water. You took a deep breathe of the little oxygen left, and the water filled the box.
---
Bucky reached out his hand, and grabbed one of the chains tied around the door.
He pulled himself closer and attempted to pull them apart.
---
You heard a bang on the outside of the box.
Your eyes shut.
---
It was almost pitch black.
It was hard to see.
He felt three sets of chains around the door.
He desperately began to pull them apart.
He stopped himself from coughing.
---
You started coughing.
The water got in your mouth.
It filled your lungs.
---
He didn't have much time.
---
Bubbles escaped through the side of your mouth.
---
He tugged on the last chain until it was broken like the others.
He pulled at the handle of the box.
It was stiff but opened eventually.
The box continued to sink.
Your body floated out of it, sinking at a slower rate.
Bucky grabbed you around the waist and started to swim up.
He started to cough before he reached the top.
But he made it.
His face emerged from the water and he took a couple of deep breaths.
With his arm still holding you tightly, he started to swim to the edge of the water.
He pulled your body carefully out the water and lay you down on the river bank.
Bucky was shivering from the cold water, but your body was motionless.
The freezing temperature of the water had caused your lips to turn a light shade of blue, along with a slight fade in the colour of your skin. You were extremely pale.
Bucky was still coughing up water but he ignored it as he leaned over you.
"No no no" he muttered with tears in his eyes.
He couldn't let you die, and he refused to accept the fact that you might already be dead.
He brushed the hair out of your face and placed his hand on your cheek.
It was ice cold.
Bucky knelt beside you and put his hands together on your chest.
He started CPR, desperately trying to revive you.
---
Sam and John and Sharon all joined together outside the front of the building, where the hostages had gathered with police and reporters and other civilians.
Sam was okay. He had his wing suit on, but earlier, you were just pulled away too soon to see him use it.
Karli was dead. Sharon had shot her.
Sam had carried her body outside, and she was handed to a paramedic.
"Have either of you seen y/n or Bucky?" Sam asked the other two, but they both shook her head.
"Last I saw him, Bucky was on his way to go and find her" John informed.
"Did you see which way he went?"
"Uhm that direction" John pointed roughly in the direction that Bucky had run off in. "I heard Karli mention the bridge."
"Bucky? Bucky you there?" Sharon asked over the ear-piece.
There was no response.
Sam sighed and opened his wings, then quickly flew up into the air.
"Do you see them?" Sharon questioned.
Sam looked around, and he got redwing to do the same.
Redwing alerted him of a location on the river bank.
He looked over and his face dropped with fear.
"I'm going to need an ambulance" he called to the ground as he descended. He showed the others the location, then took off again to get there himself.
He landed opposite Bucky.
"Come on" Bucky was muttering to himself. "Come on you're okay..."
"Bucky" Sam let him know he was there.
Bucky was shaking his head in denial.
"Bucky she-"
"No. No she's not gone. She's okay. She's gonna be okay" Bucky had tears streaming down his face as he continued trying to help you.
Sam watched him, tears forming in his eyes as well.
An ambulance arrived shortly.
But Bucky did not leave your side. He was ignoring everything around him.
"No, no, no" he kept mumbling repeatedly.
Three paramedics rushed over.
"We've got it from here."
"It's okay. We've got her."
Bucky sat back and they took your body.
He stayed put, staring at the spot on the ground where you just were.
"Is he coming?" the paramedic asked Sam.
Bucky didn't move.
"... no. We'll come to the hospital separately" Sam decided.
The paramedic nodded and closed the door of the ambulance.
It drove off, leaving Bucky and Sam.
Sam sat down next to Bucky, looking out at the river.
They sat in silence until a car pulled up a minute later; John and Sharon got out.
"Where is she?" John asked.
"The ambulance took her" Sam informed.
"Is she gonna be okay?" Sharon enquired.
"I don't know" Sam admitted.
"Bucky? You okay?" John turned to him.
The tears were still falling down his face, but more slowly and silently then before.
John stepped closer to him.
Bucky's fists clenched.
"I wouldn't John" Sam warned. "You are probably the last person he wants to see right now."
Bucky was still staring at the floor where there was still an outline of water.
John backed off.
Bucky looked up at Sam.
"Where's Karli?" he asked.
"Dead."
Bucky's fists unclenched.
He thought she deserved it, but he didn't let the others know that.
"We should probably go to the hospital" Sam suggested.
"Sam" Bucky's voice broke. "What if she's not okay?"
Sam wanted to tell him that everything would be okay, but he knew it was a lie. Things were really bad, and it seemed like worst case scenario.
"I don't know Buck" Sam admitted.
He stood up and walked over to him, offering out his hand to help him up.
Bucky ignored it and got up on his own.
"We'll go to the hospital and find out" Sharon said.
