Author's Note: Here it is, the finale. It's so bittersweet to write, but I'm so delighted to be able to finally conclude this chapter in Alexander's life and open another one.
There's another note at the end of the chapter that I hope you all will take the time to read. It's been weighing on me to say for months now, and I'm glad I finally put it out there, discomfort and all.
Thank you all so much for joining me on this journey.
Without further delay, 4800 words for the final chapter.
Happy reading!
Alexander continued to blink the spots out of his vision as he looked at the girl in front of him, clad in a grey police-style suit with purple outlines. Her dark hair rippled over her shoulders in a cascade, framing her glittering lilac eyes.
"Hi, Daddy," She giggled and hugged him tightly.
"Shirai," He asked, wrapping his arms around her, "Wait--How do I know that? Weren't you supposed to--"
"I did," She bounced back, waving a small device in her hands, "Then I gave them back for now."
"Why?"
"So I didn't have to explain it again," She put the device away, bouncing on the balls of her feet, overcome by her giddiness.
"No," Alexander re-formed his question, "Why are you here, Violet?"
Shirai pointed at the sea of tyrannodrones approaching, "Duh."
"So, it's you and me against the world?"
"Not quite," She got a glint in her lilac eyes, "I grabbed a few friends."
"Friends?"
"You didn't think I'd let you fight this alone, did you, Violet," Tori asked, crossing her arms playfully.
"Tor?"
"She's not the only one," Jayden walked up, "We're gonna have a talk after this."
"I--"
"You didn't introduce me, Tori, I'm hurt," A brown-haired guy said with an Australian accent.
"Figured you'd do it yourself, Xander," Tori smirked.
"Anyone else," Alexander asked, looking between the growing group of teenagers.
"A couple," Tori mused, "I bet they got lost."
