ELIJAH
•••••••••••••

I sigh heavily and lean back in my seat. Gio is currently driving us towards the same club in which I had met her over a year ago.

I try to remind myself that the only reason I'm back in Spain is for business. I try to remind myself that the only reason why I wanted to stay an extra day here is to check in on my other businesses while I'm here.

I keep reminding myself that I'm not here for anything else that doesn't involve with my work.

"Do you think he's still busy plotting his revenge?" Dante's looking at me from the passenger seat.

He's talking about Nikolai. A few months ago he tried attacking my mansion again but this time I was prepared because I've been keeping a close eye on him. He didn't succeed though and retreated all of his men.

My men have been scooping out all of Nikolai's spies in Italy over the last year. Many were captured and questioned but a few also managed to get away. Some even wanted to join my mafia, claiming that Nikolai is a bad leader and doesn't treat his men fairly. But I didn't let them join. I don't trust any Russian.

I don't know why he keeps attacking my mafia. She doesn't live with me anymore so why is he so consistent?

We haven't heard of him in a few months now, so I assume he is plotting a revenge plan.

After things seem to settle, the only thing I've been doing was focus on work. I've turned into my old brooding self again.

Although my mafia has improved over the year and my businesses has been doing great - I havent.

Dante on the other hand has been thriving over the last year. His relationship with Nicole has improved a lot ever since he confessed his feelings to her and she did the same. They have been together for a few months now.

Now he's the one who's whipped.

And as my bestfriend and right hand man, I'm happy for him. He deserves it.

"He probably is."I answer shortly and look out of the window as we pass buildings.

He hums and turns to look in front of him again. "It's been a year, man. I think it's time you move on." He says and my fists tighten.

"You wouldn't have said that if it was Nicole."I grit out and glare at the back of his head.

He doesn't respond and keeps his mouth shut the rest of the ride.

I always seem to think of her whenever I'm doing nothing - allowing my conscious the chance to think. That's why I keep myself busy.

I've been keeping myself busy after waking up on the living room floor from being passed out for almost eleven hours.

I stopped drinking after Dante had a somewhat mature conversation with me. That was the first time I ever saw him so worried and concerned about me.

I decided to pull my shit together and keep my focus solely on my mafia and businesses.

At least keeping myself busy distracts me from my own maddening thoughts.

Walking into the club I head towards my office, but before I could reach the stairs someone catches my attention. Someone I thought would be the last person I would see here.

I tell Dante and Gio to meet me in my office and they only nod before going upstairs.

I head towards the bar where a familiar face sits, drowning his sorrows in alcohol.
