"Be as strong as your bow, Elaina."
🏹🏹🏹
ELAINA HUTTON WAS UNSURE of how much longer she had left on the farm. After briefly hearing discussions between Rick and Lori about their next steps, Elaina felt like she was stuck in the same rut that she was in when she had got there.
If they had to leave, how would they ever find out the fate about Sophia? Elaina paced nervously beside the tents where Montana was tying her boot lace. She knew the pacing would worry her, but she couldn't help it; it was the only thing that seemed to be working.
"You've walked the length of yourself twenty times now Elaina," Montana stated, putting her hand in her side. "Would you stop worrying yourself."
"I can't help it," Elaina admitted. "I heard them say we might be leaving this place, Montana. What about Sophia?"
"Nothing is set in stone," Montana reasoned. "We just have to take things as they come, okay?"
"Okay."
"Hey, Montana. Dale is looking for you," Wayne said from beside the tree. "He didn't say what it was about."
"Oh, okay," Montana stated, a confused expression attached to her face. "Will go and see what that's about. Elaina, just keep an eye out on your surroundings, okay Bean? Any trouble just shout."
Elaina smiled at Montana. No longer was it keep within my sight, it was finally keep an eye on your surroundings which made Elaina feel like Montana was finally starting to trust her.
"Thanks Montana."
"See you soon."
As Montana headed over to the RV where Dale was standing, Elaina flicked her eyes towards Wayne, who then turned his head. It had been three days since she had last heard his voice. What was to come of this situation? Elaina tried to feel sympathy, but only anger came to her mind.
She didn't like getting the silent treatment from Wayne, nor did she like giving it, but was this way Elaina would finally show Wayne that he was in the wrong? Elaina remembered the last time they had had an argument, back at Luke's apartment in the city. It had been over a game over monopoly. Elaina had given in, and apologised to Wayne, but only because the issue at hand felt so severely insignificant. This, well, was a lot more than a game of monopoly. This was about the future, about Elaina and her life. Elaina thought that Wayne probably assumed she was going to give in, but this time she wasn't going to. It was uncomfortable, but this was the way it had to be. Children weren't the only ones who needed to learn lessons.
