Gojō Satoru 五条悟 The main protagonist of Ephemeral, he was a romantic man, charming and alluring in everyone's eyes. He was in the profession of a yōkai slayer. He was born and raised as an assassin to kill yōkais. He was the best in his field, the most prevalent of his batch. Seductive and flirty, there was simply no way to resist him.

Gen Suzuki 原鈴木 The main protagonist of Ephemeral. Gen is a yōkai (妖怪) who was raised in the midst of a forest, an infamous forest called 'Suzuki' which defines as 'bell' and 'trees' She was well known among the village folks, calling her 'The bell kitsune" or "The spirit of bells" In due to the loud chimes that would melodiously ring in the villagers' ears whenever she appeared. Gen was a kitsune, known as a fox. She was a nine tailed fox spirit, her intentions were inconclusive— Many said she was virtuous while others said she was devious.

Megumi Fushiguro 伏黒恵 A village kid. He believed that any yōkai would pose as a danger to his beloved village. He swore to protect his people. His father, Toji Fushiguro, was the chief of the village. As his son, he felt responsible towards the people. A responsible, independent and shrewd kid. He mastered the sword at the age of 9, now he trains as the next heir to the village.

Toji Fushiguro 伏黒甚爾 The chief of the village. Often irresponsible and aggressive. Known as the "charm" of the village, be it due to his charming appearance or that he often carried a charm— the worm. A bright believer of his own might and will, if he desired for something, he would get it.

Mahito 真人 Mahito, the loving brother figure to Gen. Though they are not blood related, he treated her with affection and care. Were there atrocious intentions behind his actions? He was a mastermind, known as "The manipulator of yōkais". He was the head of yōkais, people kneeled for him, plead for him. He was their God.
