Dillon Fluct

He looked familiar, not like someone I knew from the past and forgotten, but someone I'd seen before. When I looked at him my body shivered, I took in a breath and smelt what could only be described as living death with a hint of salt.
His hair was pitch black and shaggy, some of the loose ends stuck up from the rest of his hair but I could tell he never cared for looking after it apart from maybe a wash.
His skin was pale and his eyes were as black as his hair if not darker if that were possible. They stared at us his pupils changing from one spot to another as he observed all of us.
My own eyes travelled down his body, he seemed relaxed, almost bored. His whole aesthetic was dark and broody, his dark shirt covered slightly by his ominous leather jacket. His tight black skinny jeans with small tears and rips in them, and to finish it off his large combat boots.
That's when it hit me, I remembered him from the school, he was in the room watching Codrin's performance but I never knew who he was, or what he was.

"Who are you?" I asked timidly, his presence seemed to take whatever confidence and curiosity out of me

"Shut it wannabe" he snapped, his eyes glanced at me for only a second before returning to watch and almost survey each individual
"If I wanted to be spoken to from a supposed champion I would've followed Victor"

I felt a quick wind move past me and in the blink of an eye Layla was at his throat with her sword
"How do you know that name?" She screamed, I could see her grip on the bolt of her sword, the leather was turning and her knuckles were plain white.

"Would you cool it Ms.Lust, it's not like he's some big secret" the guy rolled his eyes, seemingly unfazed by the sword at his neck

"How do you know his name?" Layla repeated, this time slowly, more cynical and cold. It sent a shiver down my spine

The man rolled his eyes once again "I've known about you and your brother since before you knew about yourselves"
"What's that supposed to mean!" Layla screamed. If it was any normal person the blade would definitely have pierced his skin by now, but he was almost agitated by the sword rather than scared.
"I learnt about myself when I was 6 Layla. I could smell the monsters, the power my so called parents wanted to kill me for. Once I got out of that basic hell hole I followed the smell, my dad tried to help no matter how useless he is. That's what lead me to your original band of misfits"

I knew who he was referring to, Layla, her brother, Wulf and his sister. I didn't know many details about them, and now I was learning that this guy was there too.

"You're lying! I never saw you. What are you talking about!" Layla shouted
The guy simply scoffed and finally moved the blade away, within a blink of an eye the sword was being launched all the way to the water. Even Layla seemed stunned
"I didn't want you to see me. I didn't know if I could trust you. So I followed you, and witnessed your pathetic attempt to stop the all mighty lucifer" he retorted

Layla's eyes widened, I thought I could see tears begin to sprinkle within them. The name lucifer however, it touched something in me, my blood shivered at the name. I looked around and everyone seemed to be affected the same way

"Don't you dare say that name" Layla spoke through her gritted teeth, "if you were there why didn't you help" she added

"I could sense the death that was coming, I didn't want to be apart of that. It's a miracle only you're idiot brother died" the guy said, he sounded genuine but Layla didn't seem to care.
She launched herself at him knocking then both down, whilst on the floor Layla rose on top of him and began flailing her punches towards him, each one connected with his face but he didn't seem to care. He took it with an unamused look, Layla's eyes finally burst and she cried, the tears streaming down her face were apparent despite her hairs subconscious attempt to keep them hidden. Soon Layla began slowing down, the punches becoming similar to friendly bumps onto his chest before she finally stopped, her head lowered onto his chest and she sobbed.
"Don't cry on me, you've got your boyfriend for that" the man spat
My mind instantly felt pain, I shouldn't be caring if Layla had a boyfriend right now, but when she immediately retracted
"He's not my boyfriend" she barked and stood up to walk off
"Still he's obsessed with you, then again that could just be your mother" he teased
"What are you talking about!" I shouted without realising
"Oh you didn't know?" He laughed, "Layla's mother is Aphrodite. She finds it fun to make boys line after her so she can finally get a date"
My heart stopped, is that what happened to me, was it Aphrodite affecting my heart.
I looked past it for now, I still needed to know who this guy was.
"You didn't answer my question from earlier, who are you?" I said coldly, trying my hardest not to let my emotions show
"And I said shut it wannabe. But since I guess I'll be staying here a while because God knows you need the protection. I'm Dillon, Dillon Fluct"
"And you're parents?" I asked
"Are none of your business, son of Odin" Dillon smirked and walked away.

I chased after him in an attempt to get answers, he dodged past me without looking. I quickly turned and attempted to tackle him again but he had moved away impossibly quickly, and began walking towards the water,
I chased after him again and leaped towards him, as he touched the water instead of being submerged in it, walked across it.
When I hit the water however, I sunk beneath the surface and my face touched the gritty sand that laid beneath it.
I quickly stood up from the shallow water and watched as Dillon continued to walk confidently to the middle.
"Just so you know champion. You're not special, we're all gonna die if you mess up, so don't die and we might have a fighting chance" he narrowed his eyes and moved his hands. As he did a temple of sorts made up of pure water was conjured on the surface of the lake. My mouth fell open slightly as Dillon stepped inside with a smirk.

"We need to check on Codrin" Wulf said next to me, I nodded my head and tore my eyes away from the magnificent water monument.
Once we made it to Codrin he was unconscious but breathing, he had small marks scorched into his skin on his arms and parts of his body that Bennu had ripped into.
"He'll be fine, he just needs to rest" Wulf informed us
"Whose that?" Amelia asked me
"His names Dillon apparently, and I don't like him in the slightest" I growled and crossed my arms
"We need someone with that kind of power, at least he can actually control it" Amelia thought aloud
I couldn't help but feel like it was a slight dig at me and my lack of ability to control my strength or even the fact I didn't know who my mother was.

I rolled my eyes and began heading for my hut. I didn't realise how tired I was until I stopped chasing Dillon, but before I entered my humble abode I saw that just past the camp border, sitting on a hill was Layla. She looked defeated.
It was only within my nature to go to her and make sure she was ok.
