Finals are done. Now I'm free to focus on this story...When I'm not playing Destiny 2, that is.😅 It's pretty apparent now that the Guardian Games is rigged but unfortunately, I have an extremely unhealthy abusive relationship with this game🙃 Keeps me coming back no matter what. The grind never ends...anyway. Lets get to the story.

"MOM! DAD! I'm home!"

A young boy, who looked to be about 7 years old, entered his apartment with an excited look on his face, brandishing a small slip of paper. "I got my results!" He looked around the apartment. "Mom? Dad? Are you home?" He checked their room and found nothing. As he walked back to the living room, he noticed his tablet in the corner with a note on it saying that they were not home and to call them via video call only if something important came up.

'Huh? Video call? They said they would be home this weekend...' the boy thought as he dialed his parents. 'Well, I'm sure my test results are an important enough reason.'

After a few seconds, a calm, collected, female voice answered on the other end. But as a voice call. "Hello? Who is this?"

"Um...Hi Mom. Where's dad?" 'Why did she want me to video call her if she wasn't going to turn her camera on?' The boy thought to himself. 'Another author oversight?' (Hush, child)

Mom: "Y/N? Your father is busy with other matters. Is everything okay?"

Y/N: "Um, yeah! Everything is fine. I just saw that you guys weren't home and was just wond-"

The boy's questions were rudely interrupted by a sharp tone that was no longer calm nor collected. "What?! Why are you calling us if it is not an emergency?! Do you not know how to read? What did the note say?"

Y/N was taken aback by this. "Um...not to call unless it was an emergency..."

Mom: "And IS this an emergency?"

Y/N: "Well...um...no..."

Mom: "Then this conversation is finished. Goodbye"

Y/N then began to panic. "No! Mom wait! I called because I was wondering where you guys were! And...I got my test results today and I...thought you might want to hear them..."

An annoyed sigh came from the other end and after a few moments, his mother asked "What was your final score?"

Y/N unfolded his paper. "Well, I got a perfect score in science and in history, and in math..."

A sharp voice interrupted him yet again. "WHAT. WAS. YOUR. FINAL. SCORE?"

Y/N gulped and meekly read out "487..."

He heard a disappointed sigh from his mother. "Surely, you can't be serious? Yet another disappointing performance from you."

'I AM serious, and don't call me Shirley' he thought. "But...but Mom...I got the second highest score in the entire school..."

"So not only did you NOT get a perfect score, you're STILL just second best. Pathetic. So I take it you only called just to waste our time?"

Y/N: "What...? No! I...just thought you guys were going to be home this weekend! I wanted to see you guys..."

"There is no reason for us to be home at this moment. Especially not after you've disappointed us yet again"

Y/N's tears were now in free flow but he didn't care. He was so confused. Second best wasn't good enough? An almost perfect score wasn't good enough? It was the highest score he had ever gotten! And it STILL wasn't good enough! "Will nothing I do ever be good enough for you...?" He managed to work out while trying to hold the urge to break down completely. Though that wouldould probably just give his mother more ammunition.
