There was no Christmas tea today as the Yule Ball was supposed to include a feast. The Fat Lady was already starting her evening with her friend Violet – filled with gossips and chocolate liqueurs. And as Vega and Hermione came up to the Gryffindor common room, the Fat Lady didn't miss the chance to tease the tall female by asking her if she was going with the boy she was so often caught with.
Hermione didn't want to get ready in their dormitory because Lavender and Parvati were already causing ruckus in the room, so she and Vega collected their stuff and left to an empty classroom to get ready. Vega set her boxes of clothing and accessories down, taking a bite of a Chocolate Frog.
"I wonder how Harry and Ron will take it," Vega commented, swinging her legs back and forth as she sat on top of a desk. "You going with Viktor Krum – Ron was shocked that I was going with Fred,"
"I'm surprised he didn't saw it sooner," Hermione replied, brushing through her bushy hair. "You and Fred – you two have been over each other for so long now... when did you start...?"
"To be very honest, I don't know," Vega admitted. "It just... happened," She dusted her hands off and smiled to herself. "I wasn't sure... I'm not sure... but he really makes me daydream," Hermione started to laugh and Vega made a face. "Don't laugh at me! I'm horrible at this but I like him a lot,"
"Alright, alright, help me with this Sleekeazy," Hermione said as she held up a hair-care potion from her stuff. "I can't reach all corners of my hair,"
"That will take some time," Vega replied as she hopped off and walked over to the brunette, taking the hair care potion from her. "You might want to sit down for that,"
Hermione settled down and Vega picked up a comb to help her through the bushiness of Hermione's hair. It was a potion especially designed to make curly hair sleeker, as the name suggested. And while Vega felt like her friend would've looked nice even with her voluminous natural hair.
"Do you remember the updo you made for your hair at the Weasleys?" Hermione asked before she started to smirk. "The one you wanted to impress Fred with?"
"What are you talking about?" Vega responded, smacking Hermione's shoulder. "It wasn't really for Fred – listen, do you want me to do that style for your hair?"
"Yeah," Hermione replied. "Do you know who Harry and Ron are going with?"
"I've heard that it's Parvati and Padma Patil," Vega answered, trying to be careful with Hermione's hair. "Parvati made sure to tell me for some reason... and I saw that Lavender was a bit upset,"
"They both wanted to go with Harry – just because he's a Champion!" Hermione said. "They want to have the centre stage when dancing, you see,"
"I suppose so," Vega said. "But it doesn't make sense to me – why won't you go with someone you really like? Or maybe even a friend... nothing's going to come out of the first dance,"
"You can be really naïve at times, Vega," Hermione told her.
Vega helped Hermione get ready – it took them a long time to finish with her hair and then get her dressed in beautifully floaty, periwinkle blue dress that Vega couldn't help but gush over with her friend in it. It took them even more time to get Hermione's hair up with an array of hair-pins.
"You look very, very pretty," Vega told the brunette once Hermione had gotten ready. "And I'm sure Viktor is going to like this as well! I hope you have a really good time with him..."
"Thank you," Hermione replied, her cheeks lightly pink. "But you should get ready quickly, too!"
"Wait, let me add a bit more touches," Vega said as she picked up the blue flowery hair accessories to add them into brunette's hair. "And let these strands of hair frame your hair here..."
