Weapons: Uses three weapons but will often favour one over the other two.
1) chained Nichiri hand axe/ kusarigama, either weapon is used in conjunction with a metal chain Tanaka has wrapped around her wrist to allow the use of throwing the bladed weapon around to create space between a demon or to attack it from a distance.
2) Nichiri Tanto knife, used together duel wielded with the Axe or Kusarigama but because the smaller knife isn't able to decapitate a demon on its own, with the help of Shinobu's botany she was able to help Tanaka develop her own type of poison for the dagger's use.
3) Nichiri Nodachi, a katana sword a bit larger than most other Corps swords, usually wielded with both hands by Takahashi. It can be wielded in conjunction with the Tanto knife but is rarely done so due to the weight imbalance

Backstory: Kazu family history, Unbeknownst to her, Tanaka's family of old had always been a part of the demon Slayers Corps because of the Kazu's clan and their creation of the brutal Shadow breathing techniques but the clan fell into ruin and was forced to disband after a brutal demon attack by the Thirteenth Moon of Muzen attacked the Kazu family estate in an attempt to end the clan's bloodline but there had been those shunned from the clan's estate just like Tanaka's ancestors were, but ultimately her ancestors banishment from the clan long ago would be the very thing that would save their future bloodline from destruction.

Tanaka's personal history: Tanaka grew up with her father in their families store on the outskirts of the capital city, helping her father run their butchers store while also having the role at the shop of delivering cuts of meat to the Older people who lived near their shop. Up until the age of Six Tanaka's life was normal, she played with her father's bird and helped out around the store when she wasn't playing with some friends who lived nearby but her happy life was about to take a dark turn when one night A demon from the families past reappeared to finish its quest in riding the world of the clan of Killers who caused its turn to become a demon. After being woken up in the dead of night with clanking downstairs expecting it to be her father restocking the store but when she found her father being gorged upon by a pack of demon's which would've taken her life after the pack of five demons spotted the young Kazu Heir but were driven back when a three humans wielding samurai swords . Upon seeing this it changed the girl's destiny in life from being having a simple life to becoming the avenger of her Fatter and fallen family.

After the incident: during the years after her father's demise. Tanaka had been placed in the care of Mori Joben, A known swordsman of the Demon slayer corps and one of the trainer's of the Shadow breathing techniques scattered around mainland Japan. Mori knew how important the girl in his care was since Tanaka had been one of the few remaining Kazu clan member's and when the Tanaka got older. Mori told her about her extended families history and that the current Shadow Hashira was keen on meeting the girl. So they travelled from Mori's estate to the a large estate concealed by a forest of tall trees's leading towards a few large houses. The shadow manor was the main hub for shadow slayer to rest, recover, train or re-equip themselves with whatever Gear or tools were required. But when Mori had brought Tanaka to the Manor grounds she was granted an audience with the current Shadow Hashira, the only Hashira since the technique's inception not to come from the Kazu bloodline but was also one of the three Swordsmen Tanaka recognised from the night her father was taken. During her time at the Manor Tanaka trained with five of Akiba Haneko's personal students as one of the six were bound to come Tsuguko to Akiba.

Takahashi's 'history': despite being an Alias used by Tanaka Kazu to move around more freely than she could, Tanaka began to dress herself more to like a male after she saw for herself the different reactions people gave when they saw her. Some often said nasty words while some often got closer than Taka would've liked. She came up with her alter ego Takahashi Kazumi so she wouldn't have to be bothered by bystanders or harassment and even after Tanaka passed the entrance exam for the Corps she would still often stay dressed as her male counterpart for reasons she kept hidden, also she tried her hardest to keep her other identity a secret, not sure how her carer, Hashira or even her friends at the Manor would say if they discovered Tanaka's secret of being both Tanaka Kazu and Takahashi Kazumi.
