Over the coms I can hear Steve saying they found a few more of the "head widows" and need Wanda's help. Her response is fast and she says she's on her way.
My stomach feels weird, knowing she's gonna be down there. Not because she isn't strong but because there are a lot of widows there who could easily outnumber her.

I continue to listen to them speaking over coms and mom asks if I'm safe. Wanda also answers that with a yes and I can almost see my mom relax at the answer.

A few minutes pass in which nothing happens. Then I hear, this time over the quintjet, the announcement that one is now full with widows and ready to take off. A small smile spreads on my lips. We did it, we saved the first few widows!

Then there's excited chattering from my mom and Wanda but is overshadowed with Rhodey saying something and I can't understand what mom was excited about. There's more noise but I can't catch any words. Then there are only fighting noises anymore for a while.

When I hear steps inside the jet, I shoot up, looking at the door. Why are they already coming back? There are many more widows to rescue. Outside the door there's a muffled conversation before the door opens and my heart skips a beat as I see blond hair.

"Good to see you again, y/n." Her Russian accents as present as ever and she looks a little exhausted but happy. I can't answer at first, I just stare at her for a few seconds.
"Yelena." I finally say and she gives me a small smile before sitting down next to my legs. My mind fills with so many emotions right now that I can't quite tell which one is the strongest.

They did it, they saved her.

"You're free." I say, not taking my eyes off her. She's wearing the same fighting suit as the other widows, her hair is tied up into a neat ponytail.

"I am, thanks to you, your mom and the Avengers." She says and I can see her relaxing even more as the thought settles in, hope shimmering in her eyes.

"How have you been holding up?" She asks, her eyes scanning my body. I shrug.
"Okay. There were some bad moments and some good ones. What about you?" I ask back, wanting to know how she feels.

"I'm finally out of there as it seems, so that feels good." She answers and gives me another small smile before she gets up and looks around the room.

"Do you need medical attention? Did you get hurt?" I ask and sit hup, biting my lip at the pain in my body.
"No, I'm fine but you should maybe clean your face." She says almost jokingly and gets a wipe.

Her eyes ask for permission and I nod, so she starts cleaning off my face. It stings a little and I see blood on the wipe, knowing my lip probably is the source.

"How are they holding up down there? Are they doing a good job?" I ask, wanting to know more about the ongoing mission. Yelena nods and throws the wipe away.
"They are pretty great actually. There's this witch, I think her name is Wanda, who somehow has the ability to get us out of the mind control, at least for now."
I smile proudly at the mention of her, she's gonna save so many people today.

"Why that happy smile?" Yelena asks and sits down again.
"Well, I'm just happy that it works out so well and that Wanda is doing such a good job, I'm very proud of her." I share and see a softness spreading across Yelena's face.
"It's sweet how fondly you talk of her."

I blush at her words but nod. "Well yeah, I mean she's my girlfriend."
Yelena's eyes grow big and her smile widens even more.
"That's great, y/n! I'm happy for you. I wish you both the best luck."

She's very sweet and I can't help it but to also smile at her words. I don't remember her being this sweet but this moment right now, I cherish it, now also fully aware that she is my aunt.
