More Than A Bet: Eddie Munson

How could you be so stupid? Taking a bet to date Eddie "The Freak" Munson was by far the stupid thing you could've done in your life because not only did you hurt him but you hurt yourself in the process because despite his reputation, Eddie was a sweetheart and you hated yourself every day for taking apart of this bet.

The bet you ask: Date Eddie Munson for at least three months and take him to the homecoming dance for Erica's signed Christian Slater poster, and if you didn't last she would get a pair of your shoes she had been dying to have. 

You were planning on scrapping the bet altogether and just letting Erica have the damn shoes all just so you didn't have to hurt Eddie. 

"Sweetheart, are you listening?" Eddie asked noticing how zoned out you were.

"Yeah sorry just have a lot on my mind." You said giving a soft but fake smile. 

"Anything I can help you with?" He asked lacing his hand with yours making your heart hurt even more. 

"No, but a kiss might." You said as he happily placed a kiss on his lips much to the dismay of the group. 

Erica had been watching the whole ordeal and was fuming because she didn't think you would actually last this long in the bet and more so be in love with Eddie because she had been in love with Eddie but would never risk her reputation to date him.  So she came up with a plan to make her win the bet and make you look terrible in Eddie's eyes. 

You had just entered the auditorium prepared to help Eddie set up for Hellfire Club when you walked in and saw Erica of all people talking to Eddie making you confused as to why she was here but then panic set in that she could tell him at any moment. 

"Hi, Eds, Erica what are you doing here?" You asked hesistantly. 

"Oh I was just asking Eddie here if he would like to go to the homecoming dance with me, you know someone honest." She said glaring at you. 

"Why would he go with you when he's already got plans with me?" You asked her confused. 

"I know and I was just telling her that sweetheart, I promise." Eddie said looking at you clearly uncomfortable.

"Well, I think Eddie deserves to know the truth about homecoming? Don't you think?" She asked as you realized what she was doing. 

"What's she talking about sweetheart?" He asked looking at you. 

"Nothing Eddie, we can talk about it later in private." You said hoping he would drop the conversation. 

"You see Eddie, your sweet and loving girlfriend here has been lying to you for the past three months...she made a bet with that she could last three months dating Eddie the freak Munson and take him to homecoming for my signed Christian Slater poster." Erica said pinning it all on you as Eddie looked at you hurt. 

"Is it true?" He asked looking at you and when you didn't say anything he stormed out of the room. 

"Eddie! Eddie wait!" You called out after him. 

"I was just some fucking bet for a godamn Christian slater poster? This whole time?! I thought you were different." He said to you as you could see his heart breaking. 

"I didn't care about the poster! I cared about you!" You said as your voice cracked.

"You know I thought you were different, guess I was wrong." He said walking off and leaving you standing there with tears falling down your face because you really did care about him.

For the next week, you tried to talk to Eddie but you were turned away by his group and you couldn't even stomach being associated with yours anymore so you either skipped lunch or ate in your car while crying that you screwed up the most amazing thing in your life. 

You didn't even want to go to homecoming after everything, but your mom was happy with how your dress turned out so you went but stopped by Eddie's trailer first and was greeted by his uncle. 

"Eddie just left.." He said unsure of how to handle this situation. 

"I know he doesn't want to see me but could you make sure he gets this?" You asked quietly handing the guitar that Eddie had been wanting for weeks. 

"Of course dear." He said taking the guitar from you.

You walked into the gym and your eyes immediately landed on Eddie and Erica but all you could focus on was Eddie and how handsome he looked and how that should be you. You turned on your heel and left because everything made sense now, Erica had feelings for Eddie this whole time and just used you as a pawn to get to him.

You were at the park just lazy swinging trying to figure out to get Eddie to talk to you again, when you heard footsteps approaching you making you look up and see the very man walking towards you so you stood up prepared to leave. 

"Please don't go. I need to talk to you." He said as you nodded and walked over to the picnic table. 

"So I went with Erica and what a huge mistake that was...I felt so weird in that suit and then she started saying how in love with me she was but then started saying that if we were together I would have to follow all these rules and we couldn't be seen together." He said. 

"Yeah well, she's an idiot. She doesn't know how to appreciate you the way you are." You said shriving a bit. 

"Well, then she told me that the bet was her whole idea and that you were against it from the start and tried to pull out of it multiple times because you had fallen for me. But what really did was when I got home and saw that guitar I had been saving up for weeks sitting on the couch with the most heartfelt note I've ever read." He said placing his jacket on your shoulders. 

"I'm sorry Eddie, I really am. I didn't want to do it but unfortunately, my competitiveness got the best of me which is no excuse but I got to know you, and what an absolute sweetheart you are and I hate myself every day for ruining it because I really did care for you." You said. 

"It's alright sweetheart, I'm willing to start over if you are because I'm just as crazy about you." He said looking at you. 

"You mean that?" You asked him. 

"More than you know. In fact, I believe you owe me a dance m'lady?" He said standing up and offering you his hand as you happily took it. 

"And just so you know you can't buy your way out every time you do something wrong." He said making you laugh as you look up at him. 

"I know but this technically doesn't count because I thought I never speak or see you again." You said. 

"Okay you got me there sweetheart but I still love it and you." He said placing a kiss on your lips. 

"I love you too Eds." You said smiling at him as you two continued to sway against the moonlight.
