"But what if they don't like me?"
"Why wouldn't they like you, Kevin?" Latesha replied. "You're cool, you're funny, you play guitar. That's a big plus, y'know. Playing guitar."
Kevin pulled his cap backwards and took a deep breath. This was the easy part, he reminded himself. As bad as the video call with Latesha's parents would be, the call with his own mom and dad was what he really dreaded. But he and Latesha had already promised each other that no matter what happened, they would stick together. Nothing in the world would tear them apart. Nothing.
"Okay, start the call." he said.
Latesha dialed the number, nerves evident as the video call went through. She cleared her throat, slowly tilting the phone to put Kevin in view.
"Hey, mom? Dad? Remember when I said my new boyfriend was going to be different than the others?" she started.
