Chapter 42- Parenthood

"Good morning baby. Hey shh, don't cry, I know you feel uneasy and I'm sorry I can't do anything about it" I rubbed my hand on Videls back, trying to get her to calm down. I shouldn't have woke her

"Ugh, I told you to let her sleep it off" Leigh groaned, rolling over and covering her head with the pillow before I could reply

"I'm sorry, her breathing was sounding bad and I couldn't help it" I took a deep breath, leaning down and kissing Videls head "I promised to stick by your side, I just want you to know that isn't something I take lightly and never will, get some sleep" I whispered, covering her up a safe amount then went back to laying on my bed beside Leigh "And how are you?" I whispered underneath the pillow

"Perturbed" She replied slowly

"Using big words this morning huh?" I laughed, pulling up the pillow a little more "Good morning sleeping beauty"

"Why have you been up so early?" She groaned, pulling the pillow free of my hands and back down over her face

"I was waiting for this" I said maybe to proudly, I've been waiting for someone to ask why I've been getting up so early "Two reasons, one so I will be up before you, I've told you before and I will tell you again, seeing your face in the morning helps me get on with my day, seeing you smile, seeing the way your eyes flutter open, sometimes I'm the first thing you see. As for the second, our little bundle of joy over there, I'm so eager to spend time with her that I'll wake up at five am and just stand over her crib, rubbing her back, making sure she doesn't have any type of nightmares or anything. In short it's you Leigh Shaw and Videl, you lovely ladies are the reason why I get up so early, I wanna spend the maximum time with you two, sleeping is great but it won't allow me to accomplish that, especially when I have all I've ever wanted"

"Hm" She hummed, yanking the pillow off her and sitting up, facing the other direction "That's nice Y/n" She pushed herself off the bed, walking out of the room and down the hall

"She's up" I chuckled, crawling to the end of the bed, folding and resting my chin on my arms on Videls crib "Most likely my fault but I explained why" I whispered to a sleeping Videl "Sooner or later we're gonna have to go bed or bigger crib shopping for you, you're starting to get tall"

"Y/n" Leigh sighed as she came back in the room rubbing her eyes "I said let her sleep, the doctor told both of us that it is just a cold and she should sleep it off"

"Why don't you go back to sleep or something?" I waved off her words, still looking down at Videl "I know what I'm doing"

"Ugh" I know she rolled her eyes as she passed by, plopping down onto the bed

"Can you hand me her medicine?" I turned, holding out my hand

"She is asleep Y/n, let her sleep" She doubled down as if I was so careless

"I'm just putting it on the dresser over here" I pointed in front of me "It'll less likely get lost and it's in plain view in case we forget" I shook my head, holding out my hand still

"It's just a little cold" She said once again

"And I know that Leigh" I laughed, taking the little baby medicine bottle from her, hearing Videl start to stir awake "Guess I'm not to blame for this one waking up"
