Chapter 52 - "WanZhi, are you forced to say that by Mu ZhenYu or... You are still mad at what happened two years ago?" (1)

At the same time, Mu ZhenYu suddenly stopped in his stroking motion and, as though his mind was somewhere else, mumbled, "It would be nice if that girl would be as docile as this little fox."

Bai FeiChen paused for a second and he seemed to have an idea of where Mu ZhenYu's paranoia came from.

Now that Mu ZhenYu has stopped his stroking motion, the little fox has regained her ability to move. She shook her little head left and right and she pushed herself up on her four little paws, standing on Mu ZhenYu's thigh.

Docile...

She might just be a little fox, but she was a fox demon who had been cultivating for 500 years. He had promised her 50 million yuan and was her employer but, at the end of the day, shouldn't she have some sort of freedom after all?

How could he treat her like a pet? He had to decide what she was wore, where she went to sign with her crew, and even what time she'd be home...

Looking her now. She was wearing nothing other than her layer of soft coat. Why wasn't he saying now that she wasn't wearing enough, huh? All he did was stroke her nonstop...

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She finally kicked her hindlegs and leapt off of his thigh. Her little butt swaying from side to side, she headed back to her room for more air-conditioning.

Where her little paws had been left Mu ZhenYu with a tinkling sensation. Looking at the petite size of the fox, he suddenly felt a little sadness. "For some reason, every time I looked at the fox, I felt like I was looking at Xu WanZhi."

Bai FeiChen smiled and said, "If you ask me, Xu WanZhi is a fox demon."

Mu ZhenYu's lips curled upward profoundly. He pulled out his cellphone and dialed Xu WanZhi's number.

The ringer came from her room.

Mu ZhenYu was speechless. He then dialed Xiao Yuan's number.

The little fox perked up her ears and listened to the conversation in his phone. She heard Xiao Yuan replied to his question honestly, "WanZhi-jie has two days off. She didn't need to come to the filming location. Did she not mention it to you? She told me that it is too hot outside and she is not going leave the house at all but to stay in her air-conditioned room at home and eat a whole case of coconuts. So she should be at home right now."

Mu ZhenYu grunted an acknowledgement and ended the conversation...

Xu WanZhi, where were you? You didn't have your cellphone with you and you even left your fox at home.

He stood up and straightened up his clothes. Picking up the laptop in his study, he turned around and said to Bai FeiChen, "Let's go. We have things to take care of."

The front door shut closed. Only after Mu ZhenYu walked far away enough before Xu WanZhi spun around and turned back into her girly form.

That was too close... a couple more times like that, her secret would be exposed.

Her time off went by quickly and it was time for her to return to work.

Shen Yi has started to get into the right mindset. Wearing the traditional school uniform prepared by the production team, he looked quite high-spirited. Xu WanZhi ran into him outside of the dressing room. Her intention was just to walk past him, but Shen Yi initiated conversation with her, "WanZhi, how have you been the last couple of days?"

"Oh, quite well. Except that time went by too quickly," replied Xu WanZhi politely. "Your efficiency is quite high. You joined the filming crew so late in time but was able to make up all the loss time in just a few days. Here I was hoping for a few extra days off."

Shen Yi was on his way to go back inside the dressing room and touch up his makeup, but now he turned around and followed her in the other direction. Half-jokingly, he said to her softly, "I can't do that. I am not sure if I can handle not seeing you for two days."

Xu WanZhi paused for a little bit in her tracks, put on a serious look, and said to him, "Mr. Shen, we are not that familiar. I think you should stop with these suggestive jokes. I trust that you don't want another incident like the one at the club to happen again..."

Shen Yi was to her right. Hearing what she had said, he changed direction and forced her into a low-traffic area. "WanZhi, are you forced to say that by Mu ZhenYu or... you are still mad at what happened two years ago?"

Two years ago. The time when the original owner first debuted.

Xu WanZhi, without giving away anything, asked, "What happened two years ago?"

"I wish you had truly forgotten about it," said Shen Yi with a hint of a smile on him. "We were both youth and vigorous. I will be the first to admit that it was my fault. WanZhi, I will do anything within my power to make up for you. What do you say?"

Xu WanZhi looked squarely at him.

Shen Yi has always had a casual look on him as though nothing could bother him.

But now, he looked extremely sincere. She was almost convinced that he'd agree to whatever she said right now.

Xu WanZhi felt that something bad must have happened two years ago but she didn't believe Shen Yi would tell her even if she asked. Luckily, Shen Yi's behavior right now also led her to believe that he would not use this to blackmail her.

She has time to slowly figure out what had happened.

Xu WanZhi's look relaxed and she smiled slightly. "I truly had forgotten."

Shen Yi was stunned for a few quick seconds then, sighing in resignation, said, "Okay. I believe you."

Xu WanZhi nodded slightly and wanted to walk around him and leave. He stopped her once again. "I can't say I know what it is about Mu ZhenYu that you find so attractive. To a point that you'd still stay with him willingly even after he has gone bankrupt. What I can tell you, however, is that he isn't as nice of a guy as you may think. If you are not happy, you can come to me anytime."

Xu WanZhi could see from afar that Chang XiaoYa was trying to butter up to the director. She turned, gave Shen Yi a sincere smile, and said, "Right back at ya, Mr. Shen. Chang XiaoYa isn't a nice person either. Don't let she use you like a tool."

The filming carried on into the afternoon and the weather became humid once again, as though the nonstop thunder and rain were still not over yet.

Xu WanZhi looked at the sky with melancholy. The dark clouds that seemed to be hanging lower and lower made her sigh.

The director was directing the positions of the actors out in the field. He, too, looked up at the sky when he saw Xu WanZhi looking at it with resignation. He thought about it for a little bit and said into a megaphone, "Overcast weather like this give the best lighting. Let shape up and aim to finish today's shooting before the rain starts. The sooner we are done, the sooner we can go home."

The actors and actresses, who haven't had lunch yet didn't even have the energy to respond to him. There were but a few small and scattered acknowledgements.

During her free time in between reapplying her makeup, Xu WanZhi fished out her cellphone and took a look. There wasn't anything else other than a few WeChat messages from Fang Lin confirming dates and times with her.

Before Shen Yi showed up, Mu ZhenYu would ask to have lunch with her from time to time.

After all, a "bankrupt and unemployed" individual has a lot more free time.

But now, Xu WanZhi hadn't heard any words from Mu ZhenYu in a couple of days. In fact, she hasn't heard anything from him since she had run into Bai FeiChen and him in her fox form.

Was he busy with making his comeback or was it because of what happened that day...
