Y/n pov:

"The invasion of Khaenri'ah, the in The Chasm and Yelans ancestor... I have a feeling that somehow, these are all connected." Yanfei said, summing up what she had learned from the people around her.

"Life is full of coincidences, but this is too much of a coincidence. Maybe it's related to the fantastic compass mentioned in the will..." she though out loud.

"What will?" Xiao asked her.

Yanfei explained to the others what a will is.

Xiao took a thinking pose, "And this, can be done at any time?" He asked.

My ears perked up and I turned to him as fast a lightning.

"Hey!" I yelled at him, slapping him in his arm. (The arm that is not injured, mind you.)

"Woah woah, you want to write a will now?!" Paimon yelled/asked him.

"There was no accident that you saw me illusion that day, this place used your desire to find me to create a trap that you would likely walk into." Xiao spoke.

"It made sure you heard my real voice to create panic. This one-way communication was the bait." Xiao explained.

"Our opponent is very clever. It is not safe to stay here." He said.

He looked down at me, it looked as if he was thinking, and then he spoke. "Everyone, whether I accomplish what I came here to do or not, I must find a way to get you out safely." He said and looked back at the others.

Oh boy I did not like the way he said that.

I could see Yelan looking at us from a distance.

"If you stay too long, this space may devour you." Xiao said.

"You might become a shadow of your former self, wandering the underground like a lost soul." He told them, they looked freaked out, especially Paimon.

Yelan walked up to us, "Sounds like you saw them too." She said. What did she mean? Did she also see something like that?

"Yelan, you're back." Yanfei greeted her.

Yelan smirked and walked to join our little circle. "I've been back a while. I was listening to the whole conversation." She looked straight at me and smirked. "Another thing I learned from my master." She said, causing me to chuckle.

"I've seen strange things here too." Yelan told us.

"They're just illusions?" Yanfei asked Xiao and Yelan.

Xiao shook his head. "It's not that simple. There may come a day when these illusions because real and attack you." He said.

"From what you said a moment ago, it sounded like you knew a way out of here?" Yelan asked.

"As Yanfei said, this space is chaotic and unstable, but it has its weaknesses. By attacking the point where both spaces connect, I was able to create a rift and move from one to the other." Xiao explained. He then looked at me and thought for a few seconds before speaking again.
