Sadako's POV

"Kanada Taichi in Morioka, June. Shimada Osamu in Yokohama, August. Yamato Hiroshi in Nagoya, September. These three met similar fates."

"They claimed their automatic doors malfunctioned. Yet, none of their neighbors noticed any issues. The dates and locations vary."

Nitta, our new assistant, briefed us on the mission. Junpei and I rode on the bike while Kugisaki, Fushiguro, and Itadori followed in the car.

"Are you certain it's the same cursed spirit?" asked. "Can curses affect doors too?" Junpei asked confused. We communicated through the headphones, with Fushiguro on speakerphone.

"Yes, they can," Fushiguro confirmed. "But how do we know a curse is causing these door malfunctions? Would it even register on sensors?" Itadori questioned.

"They don't trigger cameras or other sensors. It's not about the equipment. The curse likely interfered with the door's mechanism, causing the malfunction," Nitta explained.

"I see..."

"We couldn't confirm if it was the same curse from the residual traces. Too much time had passed," Fushiguro added.

What eerie coincidence or shared experience from led to their tragic fates years later? I asked scowling.

"We tried finding connections between the victims. Turns out, they all attended the same middle school for two years," Nitta continued.

"So, they all may have been afflicted by the same curse, which activated after all this time?" Kugisaki deduced. "It's a plausible scenario," I shrugged nonchalantly.

"That's why we're headed to talk to a classmate who knew all three. We need your insights as sorcerers," Nitta instructed.

"You're great, Kugisaki!" Itadori exclaimed. "You nailed it!" Junpei chimed in, likely picturing her satisfied expression. "Oh, it was nothing," she nonchalantly replied.

We arrived at Saitama Urami East Junior High for our investigation. Just moments earlier, we had visited the home of a classmate who knew the victims.

Unbeknownst to us, a funeral was taking place, revealing another victim who had died in the same manner as the previous three—stranded at his front door, unable to open it.

"Man, there goes our only lead!" Nitta exclaimed in frustration as we get inside the school. "Don't worry, we'll figure something out," I reassured her.

"There's bound to be something at this school," Kugisaki added optimistically.

"I hope so. One of the staff members agreed to talk with us, so let's give that a shot," Nitta suggested, and I nodded in agreement.

I caught Itadori's glance, but he seemed preoccupied pouting, so I just smiled to myself.

"Hey, look over there. Some troublemakers," Kugisaki observed, spotting a group of delinquents smoking. "Maybe we should rough them up a bit and see if they know anything."

"W-Why would we do that?" Itadori questioned, perplexed.

"Hey, who do you punks think you are?!" one of the delinquents snapped, but then they took a closer look at us and immediately bowed deeply.

"I-It's nice to see you!"

"Well, would you look at that? They actually have manners," Kugisaki remarked, striking a pose. "You can't hide your aura, no matter how hard you try," Itadori echoed, mimicking the gesture.

"What on earth are you two doing?" I asked, trying to suppress my amusement.

"Haha, Kugisaki-san and Itadori-kun, you're funny." Junpei chuckled. "It's been a while since we graduated, Fushiguro-san!" one of the delinquents exclaimed.
