"Thanks for helping me build my Bjorvaadian bookcase. I got it from that foreign build-your-own-furniture store!' Amy smiled as she and the gang sat in a circle at her place. "Of course, you had to buy this..." You laughed, making Amy wink and stick her tongue out at you.
"I'd thought it'd be fun!"
"That's it?" Tails asked as he looked at the small box in front of them that sat on Amy's table.
"Oh. you'd be surprised how much they can fit in one little box!" Amy smirked as Sonic opened the box, and small cardboard pieces flew out of it, falling onto Tails, Sonic, and Knuckles. You were able to dodge the flood of cardboard.
All of a sudden, the phone that Sonic gave you rang, and you looked at it to see an incoming call from 'mother/ma/mom/'. "Sorry guys! Gotta take this!" And you walked outside Amy's place.
"Hi, mama!" You smiled and quickly, the sound of dolphins and water was heard on your mother's end.
"Hi, sweetie!!'
"Uh, mom? Where are you?"
"Oh, I'm on the same boat you took to your vacation Island! or about to be, we've been waiting for almost 30 minutes!"
"I'm sorry, your what?" You asked bluntly.
"Is something wrong?"
"No! It's just I thought I'd be coming home myself!"
"Pfft! Of course not! Your dad said he could wait, but I just wanted to see my baby gir-"
"Y/N?" Sonic's voice echoed and you panicked.
"Uh-sorry mom-what?-your-psshk-b-breaking-Y/N?-sspkh-up-Can you hea-pssk-"
You hung up the phone and sighed. Sonic walked up behind you with a soft smile. "There you are! We're about to build the bookcase! You coming?"
"Oh, uh! Yeah!"
"Who called?"
"Oh, uh- just my mom...wanting to check up on me!" You lied, and sadly Sonic believed you. "Yeah, she must feel a bit upset..."
"Why's that?" You cocked an eyebrow.
"Well, I mean any parent would miss their child moving away from them for the rest of their lives. So I don't blame your mom." Your chest tightens. That's right, Sonic and others think you're here to stay...you didn't tell them this was just a vacation--
"You are staying here? Right?" Sonic spoke up, breaking your train of thought.
"...I-uh. Yes! Of course, I am!..."
You hated this.
You hated all of this lying. But you didn't have the guts to tell them yet.
"Y/NNNN!" The sound of Knuckles made you look up to see him running up, holding his finger. "Y/N! Y/N! Y/N!" He cried, and you held his hand. "Knux, what's wrong?" You asked and looked at his finger. "Ah, did you smash your finger with a hammer trying to nail something, again?" The echidna nodded with tears and you smiled softly.
