—Intro—

Hello there! The name's Verne (v-XVIII) and I would describe myself as a bored, sleep-deprived writer running on caffeine. I've been writing creatively for at least six years, so while I wouldn't say I'm an expert, I do know some stuff about it. I also have experience in academic writing (damn you, research papers) and so, I would say my review style will probably be a bit detailed and I would like to think, thorough. Don't worry, I won't dissect your work like it's for a research paper defense. I've had enough of that myself haha. Anyway, I've been called fairly chill and friendly, so I don't consider myself as a harsh reviewer.

—Preferences—

I don't have much of a genre preference. I'd like to consider myself as someone who reads mostly anything. However I do have genres I feel weak about judging. Mainly, comedy, romance and poetry.

          1. Comedy because humour is difficult.

          2. Romance because I just don't vibe with it (usually).

          3. Poetry because I can write poems but not judge them.

So if you have a pure comedy story or a pure romance story or a poetry book, I'll probably back down and tell you to ask another reviewer who can review it much more skillfully than I can. I do feel comfortable with romance as a sub-genre though, so if you're writing, say, a fantasy romance... I'm fine with that!

NOTE: As for fanfiction, I would need time to decide whether or not I would reviewing your work. I apologize in advance if I reject your request as it really depends whether or not I'm comfortable enough with the fandom.

As for LGBTQ+ stories, I'm totally fine with it. I'm part of the community myself so I do think that I have enough knowledge to critique such storylines. For Mature stories, they're totally fine with me, as long as it doesn't glorify sensitive topics such as rape, violence, and suicide/self-harm. My morals really won't make me review your work if it glorifies those.

—What to expect of me—

This is probably the part you're most curious about. Firstly, I'll say it outright: I don't give scores. For me, it's hard to quantify creative work therefore I don't really give numbers in my reviews. If you want your work to be scored and such, I'm not the place to go to.

Second, my review is cut up into four main parts.

First Impressions: First impressions are important! They're what's gonna hook your readers. I know everyone says "Don't judge a book by its cover." but while that is true, we can't deny the fact that people do judge what they want to read based on covers. So that's why I would rate the cover, title and blurb before I've even read the story.

General Thoughts: This section outlines my general thoughts regarding the chapters I've read.It lumps in all the facets of your story. Basically, the big picture.

Breakdown: A detailed chapter-by-chapter look into your story. Here I'll go in deeper about the different facets of your writing, such as:

          1. Characters

          2. Setting

          3. Plot

          4. Grammar

Summary: The tl;dr version of the review. Sums up all my main points and takeaways.

—Rules and Reminders—

1. I will review at least 2 chapters per work, and will review a maximum of 5 if requested. However if you request a 5 chapter review, then your review will take more time, of course. If I really liked the story, then I'll maybe review as many chapters as I liked.

2. My review is merely filled with suggestions and opinions. You do not have to follow everything I say. Feel free to cherry pick whatever part of my review to use for your book. I'm also fine with you ignoring it completely, but well, that's kind of a waste, isn't it?

3. Part 1 of payment must be completed before I start my review. Details about payment further on below. (The password is the reason you choose me as your reviewer)

4. Feel free to DM me questions about your review. I'm open to talking about it for further details. However please don't DM me asking about when's the review. You can track yours through the queue below. I'll get out a review usually in a couple of days to a maximum of 2 weeks. If by then I haven't done your review, then feel free to DM me.

—Payment—

Payment is split into two parts. Part 1 must be accomplished before I start the review. Part 2 shall be accomplished after I finished your review.

Part 1: Please follow me for at least the duration of the review (required). This makes it easier for me to keep track of people. Also, I usually follow back, especially if I liked your work! Permanent follow is not required, but very much appreciated.

Part 2: Check out my work (required). Please leave at least one 5+ sentence outline comment on 2 chapters or 7+ inline comments for 2 chapters (not 7+ inline total... 7+ inline per chapter) on one of my works.
