Chapter 33 (Pt II) — boyfriend boy

"Ugh, why do you know the best places ever?" Josh groans as he gets out the car.

After another long half-an-hour ride and countless of Elliot deflecting Josh's curious inquiries regarding their destination, they reach a mountaintop just outside of Willowcreeks, from where they can literally see the whole of their small town and even parts of the nearby towns and cities. Since it was night time, there were lights dotting up the view. It was almost as if they were standing above a sky full of colourful stars.

Josh sighs in content and then steps back from the edge of the mountain, and finds a soft, smooth spot to lie down. The skies weren't as bright, seeing as there wasn't as much stars and not much of a moon on display. However as Josh continues to stare at dark sky, he can make out a few stars in distance, barely glimmering enough. It is oddly calming, the somewhat bare, dark sky.

Elliot occupies the empty space on his right, but instead of lying down like him, he chooses to remain seated, his legs stretched before him, and arms resting behind him, his back reclined a bit. Josh looks at him, only to find that the boy's eyes were already on him.

"Hey," Elliot whispers, one corner of his lips quirked up in a half-smirk.

"Hi," Josh whispers back and he;s transformed back to how he was at the beginning of the date all nervous and tensed.

The blond rolls his eyes inwardly — it is strange how one particular person can make him so nervous that he sometimes forgets his own identity, but also makes him comfortable like no other.

A few minutes pass with no words exchanged between them and the stiffness of the atmosphere slowly dissolves into nothing but pure ease and comfort.

Josh lets a few more minutes of silence pass, soaking in the solace it offered before opening his mouth, "I hate you so much right now," he confesses, staring at the sky.

"What?" the brunet jerks his head to him at that response, clearly not expecting it, "Why?"

Josh can clearly see worry filtering in his green eyes and as bad as he feels, he bites back a smile and lets the latter distress just a little while longer. For once, it's not him who is flustered, and it feels nice.

The blond cannot hold his smile in for long though; his lips break into a wide grin, and he reaches for Elliot's hand, patting it twice. It takes Elliot to recover from his stunned state and process what was happening, and when he finally realises what has happened, he scoffs, shaking his head.

"You ass," he says, chuckling.

Josh just shrugs sheepishly, before pushing himself off the ground and sitting up, crossing his legs, "I can't believe you got all worked up over that, and after giving one of the best first dates in the history of first dates,"

Elliot rolls his eyes, his cheeks taking on a light tinge of pink.

"I was just thinking how am I ever going to top you in our next date. You literally went all out," Josh continues with no inhibition.

The brunet sees the opportunity and wastes no time in seizing it, and asks innocently, batting his eyelids, "Next date, huh?"

The blond falters losing his momentum, "I mean.... um... if you'd want to, of course,"

He knows Elliot is only teasing with him when the latter makes a show of thinking-about-it, but still he can't help but be anxious a little. There's always a chance that he can say no. That all this was just to pass his free time.

Josh truly hates how his brains worked sometimes.

Fortunately before Josh can make anymore ridiculous assumptions, Elliot cocks his head to the side a little, and with a cheesy grin he says, "Of course, I'd want to,"
