Dustin nearly sprinted through the mall today, yanking Azalea by the hand.
She thought he might be more anxious to see his friends, but cracking the secret Russian code with Steve and Robin was seemingly way more exciting.
Neither Robin nor Steve were at the front, yet no one was in the store. Dustin and Azalea walked straight into the back room.
Robin and Steve sat huddled around a note pad, the Russian to English translation book, and the walkman playing back the recorded message.
Azalea eyed how close they were sitting together. A small pang of jealousy ached in her stomach. She ignored it.
Robin and Steve both looked up at the two as they entered.
"Hey! You feeling better today?" Robin asked Azalea with concern on her face.
She nodded quickly, turning a bit pink, "Yeah, better."
Which was partially true. She had bruises everywhere and her body still ached, but she no longer had crusted blood in her hair, which was a major improvement.
"Make any progress?" Dustin asked excitedly immediately joining the group at table, referring to the Russian code.
They both nodded. Steve told them, "We've got half of it."
"Really?" Azalea gawked, joining the crew at the table.
"Yeah." Robin said proudly, cocking a brow, "Like I told the boys, my ears are little geniuses."
"We're just trying to listen for patterns or common syllables now." Steve told them, "Here."
He played back the audio for them to listen.
The mono-tone russian broadcast filled Azalea's ears. It went over her head, not understanding the words.
Until her ears perked up. She knew that word.
"Wait stop. Rewind it," Azalea ordered.
Steve did. They all listened.
"The music, right?" Steve jumped, "The music in the back. It sounds familiar."
Dustin slapped Steve's arm, "Enough about the music, man!"
