Over the past and recent days, I had grown more comfortable on the Resistance base. A week had passed since Poe, Finn, and myself had landed on Peorin, the planet where the hidden Rebel base was located. I had become familiar with the whereabouts of certain areas and had even recognized several Rebels that I passed every day in the corridors as they bowed in our quick passings.

Although I had my own room completely situated with every amenity that I could desire, I spent my free time and every night within Poe's room.

During the day, I would paint for a portion of time before contributing to a cause around the base, and at night, Poe would first braid my long hair, fixing it after a long day of exploration and work, and then hold me in his arms and shield me from the shadows of the night.

Because Poe had returned to the base, he was more busy than I had anticipated, but I wasn't going to complain about the importance of his work. He was tasked with several missions that included leaving the base, and when he had returned, he would immediately begin labor on preparing the ships for their next journey.

I admired Poe for his dedication to the cause. He was a natural leader, and nearly everyone on the base looked up to him as an example, an idol to follow, a perfect enigma of everything a Rebel should strive to be.

To me, Poe was all of those things, but even more so, he was my savior, my deliverer, and my hero, all combined into my beautiful pilot.

It required many words to effectively describe all that I had experienced with Poe, and all of the feelings and newfound emotions that were stirred because of him. I had painstakingly and endearingly etched them all into a special letter that had taken me a few days to perfectly compose. Poe had written me several letters already, and I believed it was time to write him a sentimental one full of endearment and my honest feelings for my Poe.

I sealed my letter with a kiss and tucked it away safely in his ship, smiling to myself and wondering how long it would take for him to find it, knowing that he might be too busied to discover it immediately.

I couldn't wait until he found it.

With a hopeful smile, I sighed and stood, dusting my pants from the dirt of the ship's floor. Perhaps I could surprise Poe and tidy it up for him in one of the upcoming days.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed his orange flight suit laying over his Captain's chair, dirtied, and displaying obvious evidence of a rough battle he had recently experienced. My heart was heavy as I inspected his filthy flight suit, worried for his safety every single time he had left me on the base to fight in the Resistance.

My finger lightly traced an elongated tear in the suit, completely separating the pieces of material on the back of the fabric itself. "Oh, Poe..." I sadly whispered, wondering if he had suffered an injury to match this invasive mark on his suit. I didn't hesitate to carry the suit on my shoulder as I approached the opened glass canopy.

I comfortably grabbed the edge of the ship, beginning to climb down the ladder to the ground, just as I had done several times before.

A voice cleared their throat from behind me, catching my attention before I could set foot onto the floor of the ship hangar. "Hello, Finn." I grinned, accepting his hand as he offered to assist me with the final rings of the ladder.
