Scaramouche's Perspective

"Ei, isn't it about time to call it quits? You're tormenting the poor doll, and for what? Why bother talking to something that can't even feel? I warned you, Ei, defying the laws of nature never ends well. Though, judging from how confident you were about this experiment, the prototype doesn't seem very promising.'

"It doesn't resemble Makoto, not even in the slightest."

"That's a bit of a stretch, Ei. He's rather cute, if you ask me."

"Don't make me laugh, Miko. All I see is a pest who can't even do the one thing it was made for."

Then I saw her.

Her flowing silver hair, glistening like gossamer under the light of the stars, as she faced the night sky with ennui in her violet eyes.

"Tsuki ga kirei desu ne, Scaramouche?"

(English Translation: "The moon is lovely tonight, isn't it, Scaramouche?")

I sprung up, drenched in cold sweat.

These goddamn dreams . . .

Adjusting the straps of my hat, I opened the door.

Wait.

Since when did I dream?

"Are you cold, Miss Yunxi?" Nianzu asked, downing a glass of wine. "You get more beautiful with every drink, milady~"

I giggled, pouring him another glass. "Fufu, you're too considerate."

Only a few sweet words, and I've got him in the palm of my hand.

What an idiotic little mouse.

"You know, I've been meaning to start a business, Nianzu," I cooed. "If it isn't too much, would you be willing to be my sponsor?"

"Well, I can't say no to a pretty girl in need!" Nianzu patted my back with a laugh. "You got a pen there, missy?"

"Of course, sir."

Searching in my pocket, I handed him a form in my right hand, grasping a silver dagger in my left.

"Hmm, what's this, a bank?" he inquired, scrutinizing the paper. "That's a bit of a tough one, I don't know if the Ministry can approve of something that big, honey . . ."

My gaze darkened.

"Why don't we go somewhere a little more private?" I suggested, leading Nianzu to a corner away from the crowds.

"Huh? Why?"

"You'll find soon enough!" I hummed cheerfully.

Backing him up against the wall, I unsheathed my tanto in one swift move, pressing the blade against his neck.

"Sign it," I ordered, my patience draining. "Now."

Shaking with fear, Nianzu raised the pen to the sheet, hurriedly writing his name in the provided space.

"Good choice," I praised, snatching back the form and placing my tanto back in its scabbard. "I'll be presenting this to the Liyue Qixing for approval."

He looked down, trembling.

"W-who are you?" Nianzu gulped. "Y-you're not Fatui, are you?"

"Me?" I asked innocently. "Most certainly not. As you said, I'm just a pretty girl in need."

Really short chapter, but I have some news!!

Firstly, it is time for a timeskip! As to not spoil anything, I won't be announcing the length of the timeskip, but it is a really pivotal moment in the story! The end is finally within sight! The next chapter will probably be really long, so it'll take some time to write and edit. Please bear with me, and I promise I'll try my best not to disappoint you guys T^T

Next, I'm thinking about making some voicelines for Rin! A lot of people have told me I have a really versatile voice (I'm flattered lol) and I thought it would be a good idea to monologue as her or at least read some of her lines!

Finally, I'm going to be starting a new project which will be released some time around the end of By the Lightning's Glow! Please stay tuned, and I would really appreciate it if you guys would check it out! See you next time!
