🙄"Aye, y'all."
Kori looks up to see Dame sitting down at the table. "Hey, bro," he says. From beside him, Zamir mumbles a low, "Wassup."
Things have been weird between them these past few days— well, weirder than they had been, anyway. They no longer talk, at all. If it weren't for him overhearing Zamir talking to their friends, Kori would have doubted the boy had a voice at all. However, at the same time, they're closer. They've taken to sitting near each other in every possible situation they can, almost as if they don't want the other out of their sight for too long. Every time their eyes lock, a thousand of words pass between them that they can't say. It's a toxic push-and-pull between them and Kori wonders when something is going to give.
"Link at mine tonight, y'all coming?"
They both stay silent for a few long moments, then they both realize they're waiting for the other to reply first. They respond at the same time.
"Nah." "Nah."
He frowns at them, "Why not?"
They both shrug, once again in unison.
