CHAPTER 2:

THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIM

EVELYNN KNEW it the moment she saw those creatures that they meant no good. You could see the predatory stance they held and the murderous scream their red eyes gleamed with while following her every move... Even the smallest intake of breath she took was followed by their eyes focused on her chests.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here..." said one of the three guys.

There were two blonde and one black haired males among them, but they all had red eyes so it wasn't hard for her to recognize them as the vampires. Dark creatures dreading from the depths of the night whose sole purpose was to toy with their prey before sucking her dry.

There weren't female vampires, and even if there were, they'd be extremely rare as if finding a needle in a haystack... So you can guess the chances of meeting one.

Only Elite and Royals' mates are allowed to be turned into one of the species, and not many of them found out their beloveds until they were millenniums old. So there were mostly male vampires. Which, in this case, were those three.

"We mean you no harm, babe," the black one said as she tried to back away.

"We just want to play... A game called lie-or-run-and-we'll-snap-your-little-neck-in-two." the third guy said as they started moving towards her.

She gulped.

"What do you want?" she managed to voice out but even she could feel that her voice trembled.

"Brave little curious thing, aren't you?" the black guy said. He had the most interest in her, he wanted to make her his own slave. She'd die anyway in few years if he doesn't kill her himself, he can't turn her in because he was no Royal nor Elite.

But that wasn't the reason they were here; they were on a mission from the witches looking for a certain woman's reincarnation and this girl in front of them was just a passing snack.

Amabelle. Just her name would make countless vampires shiver in fear. The first naturally born female vampire and their queen. The one they killed with help of witches after centuries of planning, thanks to her infatuation to another.

"We already told you... We just want to play," he repeated every word slowly as she was some three years old kid that couldn't understand what's going around her.

She knew that if she doesn't do anything, she'll die soon and no one would even bother to look for her. Not that she had a family or something like that at all.

She had only two options:

One, to actually listen to those idiots, survive somehow and then grab her plan to escape later with the first chance that she gets, or slowly lead them to dangerous opponent who would kill them for her.

Two, even though she couldn't kill them, she could use her archer's skills to slow them down, run to the closest city and ask for help, though chances she'll get one were as rare as her first option. She had her bow and fine new set of arrows to fire at them, and hopefully escape while they're still trying to recover.

She couldn't possibly g back to her village. Although she didn't really know them well and only few could be considered her acquaintances, she still couldn't let innocent people die because of her.

Their deaths would haunt her.

Which option is better? The first wasn't that great, but there is a chance of her being damned the second they get her and never have her chance to escape while second would have been great if she had a help and place to escape to.
