"Please keep me company," Charles mumbled to Daniella so that the other people around them won't hear him. "This event is so boring.."

Daniella can't help but chuckle and agree with him, but unlike Charles, she was mingling with the people quite well. She took two glasses of cocktails and gave one to Charles as they slowly walked to the side.

"You are an idiot to come here without your girlfriend," Daniella said to her friend before taking a sip of her drink.

"I know.." Charles said in a regretful tone. "I am stupid. And can't believe I am the only one in a t-shirt."

"You literally put zero effort on your outfit," Daniella commented.

"And you put more than necessary.." he fired back.

"Well obviously, I wanted to be the best looking here."

"You always look gr..."

"This is a pleasant surprise," Charles was interrupted by the former champion.

Daniella left out a defeating huff but forced a welcoming smile on her face.

"Hey Nico," she greeted and hugged the former champion and Charles also did the same.

"I have to say..you two are looking really cute together," Nico commented.

"Umm.." Charles looked at Daniella, feeling awkward.

"Oh I am sorry," Nico acted apologetically. "You are dating Max now...you have to forgive me, Dani, there are so many rumors about you with other drivers and celebrities that it's hard to keep up."

Daniella let out a fake laugh, pretending as if what Nico said was funny. Charles also awkwardly let out a laugh, not knowing how to act.

"It's funny," Daniella said. "Almost as funny as all your failed attempts to make Lewis talk to you again."

Nico's laughter died down but he tried to act like the comment didn't bother him.

Charles' eyes went a little wild as he chugged down the drink.

"I would let you know that he looked at me for a second at Monaco grand prix this year," Nico tried to defend himself. "It's a huge progress if you ask me."

"He glares at Max for much longer than that, and he really doesn't like him at all..so.." Daniella rubbed salt at the wound.

"I will go get another drink," Charles said and fled the scene quickly, not wanting to get stuck in the battle of words and awkwardness.

"Let's not talk about all that," Nico let out a dry laugh, pretending as if the words Daniella said didn't bother him.

"If that's what you want," Daniella smiled at the former champion.

"Anyway, have you thought about making an appearance on my podcast?" Nico changed the subject. "My fans have been asking constantly when you are going to.."

"Wait, you have fans?"

"Yes.."

"But not as much as Lewis or me, right?" Daniella teased him.

"So the podcast is still a no?"

"Yep."

"Please tell me everything is okay between you and Dani and you didn't do anything stupid again," Daniel asked as he entered Max's apartment.

Max called and asked Daniel to come over to his house not long after he arrived back in Monaco. The McLaren driver got immediately worried that his friend has done something wrong and stupid again and ruined his second chance.
