Layla Martin - adopted by Nina's parents when she was dropped off on their doorstep as a baby - raised by their grandmother. Only thing she has from her real parents is a gold Egyptian style bracelet of Isis (consort of Osiris) that she wears on her upper arm (because it makes her feel safe knowing she has it on but that people can't see it)

Feel free to picture her however you want! I am all about readers feeling like they can use their own imagination - In my mind, I'm picturing Zoe Dutch/Rose Hathaway vibes except personality wise her badassness only comes out when she's feeling protective of someone she cares about like Nina; otherwise she's mostly shy due to being bullied a lot as a kid for having a photographic memory. Like I do want her to kind of be able to challenge Patricia/Jerome & Eddie & have the kind of sass that Rose does for those who have seen VA & maybe even come up with a few pranks of her own but overall she's very similar to Nina in the sweet/kind Department.
