Throughout the week Beth was in and out of the house while Athena was stuck. She had grown sick of looking at the same wallpaper.
Mr Laurence wanted to give his old piano to Beth, so when she got home Athena attempted to cover the piano with her dress as did the other girls
Athena looked excited "BETH LOOK WHAT YOU GOT" Athena yelled as Marlene covered her mouth
Meg handed her a letter "a letter from an old friend" she smiled
"Open it!" Athena jumped up and down "oh Beth just look" Athena said impatiently, all of the sisters moved to reveal the piano to Beth. Athena giggled at Beth's face
Athena grabbed onto Beth's hand as Jo read the letter "Miss Beth McKinnon, I have had many pairs of slippers in my life, but I never had any that suited me as well as yours. And they will always remind me of the gentle giver. I like to pay my depts and hope you will accept this gift. Your grateful friend and humble servant, James Laurence." All of the girls squealed
Beth looked rather overwhelmed. Athena hugged her and looked back at her sisters red face. She touched Beth's cheek "Beth your boiling hot"
Beth sighed "the Hummels are sick" she had tears in her eyes
"JAMES CALL FOR A NURSE" Jo yelled going into the kitchen "NANA"
Next thing they knew it came to nightfall the doctor came out of the room "she's resting"
"How is she" Sirius asked straight away "is there anything we can do ?"
"What is it ?" Nana asked
"Scarlet fever" the doctor frowned "have you all had it." He whispered to James "I visited the Hummels a baby has passed"
"Yeah we've all had it" everyone said
"Should we send for mother ?" Meg asked Jo
"No we shouldn't worry her." She Disapproved
