Chapter 21: Mission

♡ Alaiya's POV: ♡

I keep my eyes shut for about an hour, my feet frozen unlike how they usually are when I'm awake. I pretend to turn around while still asleep. When I see that Roman's sleeping by the way he hasn't moved a lot and his lips are slightly parted, I try to lightly grab his arm to escape his hold.

He immediately grips around me tighter, his head adjusting against my exposed breasts as if they're a pillow for him.

I couldn't have slept away from him because he would never allow that. I didn't think he would let me leave anyways which is why I had a Plan B.

I kiss the top of his head. "Roman, I think I'm about to start my period," I say louder than how I usually wake him up since I'm on a time scrunch.

He lets me go, surprisingly hearing me which is a first but I'm not upset about it.

I shoot up, rushing to the restroom. I grab the clothes from the cabinet that I had stuffed in there earlier and throw on a pair of leggings and a dark blue sweatshirt after putting on my bra and underwear. I quickly rush over and turn on the shower, hopefully making him think that I was cleaning myself up.

My hand pulls the door open a smidge so I can see if he's still asleep. He is, which won't last for much longer because he usually wakes up five to ten minutes prior to me being gone. I try to silently open the door wider, praying that it won't make a squeaking noise, but of course, it does. I freeze for a second, looking to make sure he isn't up yet. He isn't, and I take that as my chance to bolt out of here and rush down the steps. I grab the keys that were left for me on the counter and go to the garage where the car only Eldon and his team are allowed to drive. I hop in, the engine roaring to life which fingers-crossed nobody hears at the moment. My finger presses the garage button on the roof, I put the car in reverse, and then zoom out of here before anyone checks to see what the sound was.

Hopefully, this works.

I press against my ear, touching the earpiece I was given as well.

"Okay, send me the address."

✩ Roman's POV ✩

The sound of the garage opening travels throughout our room which is odd because that loud-ass sound doesn't happen this late at night. I see the restroom door cracked open while the shower is running which is also odd because Alaiya never leaves the door open while showering. She thinks some type of demon from hell will sneak in when she's not looking.

I knock, asking for permission to come in.

Nothing is heard.

I knock a little louder.

Still nothing.

A feeling in my gut says something's wrong instantly which is why I end up opening the door anyways.

When I see no one through the glass, shower door, I walk over to turn off the water and look around to make sure she isn't hiding behind the door to scare me which is something she would do.

Nothing.

Why would she turn the shower on and not be inside it? Did she go to get something? I got her tampons a few days before we came here so they shouldn't be downstairs. Maybe she needed an ice pack. Aubrey, Dayton, or Autumn didn't wake up. I'm usually the first person to wake up when I hear one of them.
