A scorching and humid summer weather like today calls for one thing and one thing only. Since you were children, you and your friend Chongyun always made some simple treats with leftover juice and milk that you had lying around in the fridge.

Even as older individuals, the answer to a terrible and sticky weather is the same: cooling and refreshing popsicles.

Due to his condition though, you guys make sure one set of six popsicles are made out of mist flowers and qingxins. The other set is used for various juices and the last set is used for milk.

"Ah, I can already imagine the refreshing taste," Chongyun says as he's pouring in liquid for the last popsicle mold.

"I can go for one right now... it's so hot today." You fan your face with your hands as an added method of cooling down.

The light blue-haired male chuckles and says, "The last popsicle in the fridge is available for you if you need it."

"No no, it's cool. I can manage for a few hours. You might need it later today, so it's best to save it for you just in case."

"If you insist, but the offer is still there."

You fill the last few molds with lemon juice, sprinkling in some crushed violetgrass. The sour taste from the freshly squeezed lemons compliment well with the fragrance of the violet plant.

Done with the second set, now onto the last one—frozen milk popsicles.

"Hmm... what flavor should I do this time?" you ask as Chongyun is walking away with the popsicles to store them in the freezer.

"Berries. It was delightful last time, but perhaps you should aim for a middle consistency where there are fruit pieces within the mixture for this batch. We can see which version is better."

"Good idea." You begin thoroughly washing the yellow berries. "What are you making for the last three?"

"I recently procured some mints, so I'll create a juice out of them and mix it with the crushed berries and milk," he replies while cutting the mints. "Hopefully the sweetness of the berries will offer a balance."

"Ooh, okay. Sounds promising."

As you're stirring the yellow mixture that consist of smashed berries with milk, he is working on heating the mints and a small bit of water over the stove. He turns to crushing the berries shortly after.

Then the mint mixture is left to cool for a few minutes. You're getting ready to pour the completed mixture into the molds, but something bright and yellow on your friend's cheek catches your attention.

"Chongyunnie, you have something on your cheek," you point out, showing him where it's at by hovering a finger over his cheek.

He nudges your finger away and pouts. "My name is Chongyun, not Chongyunnie."

"Okay, okay. Sorry. I meant Chongyun. Happy?" You smile, watching him rub at the area where the berries are relaxing at. How is he managing to miss the spot?

You suppress a laugh. "Geez, hold on—stay still."

Reaching over to his slightly flushed face, you quickly wipe away the intruders, washing them away under the stream of water. "Done. You're all good to go!"

Chongyun backs away, a hand covering his pink cheek, as he flickers his gaze elsewhere. His mouth opens and closes several times, only to end up keeping closed, no words trailing out.

"Oh, um, sorry... was that too mu—"

He gives a strange, high-pitched sound in response and grips onto his shirt, steadying himself by holding onto the edge of the counter. Startled, you rush over to him and without thinking, hold onto his shoulder.

He is now red-faced and sweating profusely.

"Oh, I'm really sorry, Chongyunnie—I mean, Chongyun!" you apologize. You're now in a panicked state and rushing over to the freezer to get the last blue popsicle.

"Here!" You immediately shove it into his mouth. "If that isn't enough, I have some slime condensate too!"

Wordlessly, Chongyun slumps onto the floor and leans his head against the wall, enjoying the cold treat as you attempt to calm your soaring heart. It's your first time seeing your childhood friend get so flustered by your actions, and you can't help but wonder if he has hidden feelings for you.

His face starts to cool down, now back to its original color, yet he remains quiet, not minding the popsicle dripping to the floor.

And you don't mind either, because all that is clouding your jumbled mind is a certain light blue-haired male; more specifically, him and his adorable pink face and widened eyes.
