So having watched Schumacher (and crying on and off for 12 hours) I have learnt that Michael treasured the family time that they had between races, and even now as Corrina has said it's still important to spend time as a family, so I'm gonna set Mick in a post-race moment at the Texan Schumacher ranch

BASICALLY THIS IS ME SAYING THAT MICK IS A QUALITY TIME KINDA GUY

Also seeing Mick celebrate it being thirty years since Michael's first ever GP win made me emotional

Ngl also this is gonna be bloody long, I'm gonna say fuck it from now on, minimum is on average 2k, so if I'm feeling something, so are you

Qualifying at the Circuit of the Americas  wasn't overly successful for Haas. Mick was lucky to have even still driven in the second session, considering Kevin hadn't performed very well in the first session, leading the back of the pack after Mick scraped into Q2, before being knocked out.

Günther, Kev and Mick had a very long meeting, meaning the German man missed his daylight to Austin, where his family would stay often growing up. Mick was set to arrive later in the night, deciding it was best that he did have that kip in the offices, because it was still an hour or so drive to the grounds of the property. He hopped into his rental car, an understated, beaten up Chevy, and made his way down the country roads, sneaking the car on to the dirt track and through the gate, making sure it was secured by hopping out, before continuing to the house where Corrina and Gina were waiting for him, with a small surprise.

"Are you sure he's gonna be happy to see me?" (Y/N) asked, nervously looking at the female copy of Michael that stood before her.

"Sweetie, you're his best friend, of course he's gonna be excited to see you!" Gina said, sitting next to her on the sofa next to (Y/N), handing her a small glass of beer. "He hasn't seen you since the start of the pandemic, at least in person, and mama and papa have kept it secret from him, he'll be shocked when he knocks the door!"

Angie was bouncing about, almost as if she could already smell him entering the ranch, but ultimately settled down at the door. "I know, Gigi, but I just haven't seen him in like three years because of racing, and as much as he facetime calls me when he's free, he's never at home with you guys!" She sounded frustrated, the jetlag making her already emotional brain more drained. "I'm so happy he's in F1, and more so that he's happy, but I haven't seen my bestie in years!"

Corrina then walked into the room, bringing a bottle of Weißbier with her. "Schatzi, he feels the exact same way!" She said, taking her seat across from the two young girls, sipping from a glass of wine. "He even said the other week, '(N/N) can't make it to Spain of work, I hate it' on a call!"

"Besides," Gina continued. "We know that you're the woman of his dreams, he might realise it seeing how you've grown into a young woman, cameras don't show that!"

It was true that (Y/N) had come into her own during the pandemic, changing some lifestyle habits and adopted a clothing style that helped her grow more comfortable in her own skin. She had also learnt how to maintain the mop of hair that he possessed, thanks to TikTok, and she had gone from a beautiful girl to a beautiful young lady over a couple of summers, but she never felt like she had to be anything less than who she was before with Mick, who just appreciated her heart and soul.

The trio heard the Chevy clank its way down the beaten track, Angie perking up and getting ready to pounce on her dad. Mick was assured that his mum and sister would be there upon his return, leaving his keys for the house with Corrina. The door creaked shut and a minute later, his knuckles rapped on the door.

"Kommen!" Gina called, everyone getting up to meet the young man, Corrina and Gina deciding to hide (Y/N) behind them. Gina opened the door and Angie was first to greet Mick, jumping up to him and whimpering excitedly. "Hi, baby!" He said, Angie soon calmed as the two women turned Mick away from where (Y/N) stood. Corrina held his face in her hands, seeing her baby survive another track day was enough for her.
