A lot of us have been guilty of falling into this trap of "people pleasing".
It could be anyone. Maybe family; friends; colleagues; boss; spouse—and so on, depending on who you have tried and wished to be liked/loved by.
You may change yourself inside out for that particular someone. Forget yourself to mould into their ideal version. Attend to each and every bidding of theirs. Pluck out your heart from your chest and hold it out to them—And yet, their hearts will fail to warm up to yours.
This doesn't mean there is something wrong with you. It's only because people are built different. And when the frequency doesn't match, it's inevitable that their soul won't align with yours.
Pray to Allah to turn you into His righteous servant and surround you with His righteous servants. Verily, there is no love better in this world than of those whose love brings you peace through the mutual love of Allah SWT.
