Valaenyra was feeling quite content as she made her way down the hallways to the private dining room where she would be spending the evening with her niece, sister, and brother-in-law.

As she approached her destination, she saw Daemon walking in the opposite hallway, seemingly fuming over something.

"Daemon!"

He stopped in his tracks and turned to face her. He calmed down a little as she made her way to him.

As she drew closer, he couldn't help but smile at her. She was looking every inch the perfect Targaryen lady, decked out in red silks with detailed patterns embroidered in black on the bodice of her dress.

Even though she was not a Targaryen by name, she was one by blood and he was sure that one day he would be the one who will give her the name that is worthy of her. Valaenyra Arryn never sounded right to him.

"You look radiant tonight, any special occasion?" Daemon beamed at her.

"A dinner with my sister and our family," Valaenyra replied. "And I always look radiant every day and night."

"That's true, you always do take my breath away everytime I see you," a smile dangled on the corner of his lips.

Valaenyra just scoffed at his response, he seemed to think that she was one of his whores or fangirls who was wrapped around his pinky finger. However, Daemon saw the faint smile playing about on her lips.

"If I take your breath away then you can just die, with that maybe the next line of succession will be handed to Rhaenyra."

Daemon slapped a hand over his chest mockingly, acting like he was hurt by her words. Truthfully, he was a little bit hurt, knowing the woman he always lov- admired didn't acknowledge that he was the heir and could be a good king.

But it didn't matter, he had all the time in the world to prove to her that he is worthy of her and the throne.

"Are you heading to dinner as well?" Valaenyra asked.

"Is that the occasion for the dress? Why? Meeting with a potential suitor?" Daemon asked, eyes flashed with an emotion that Valaenyra couldn't comprehend.

"If that's your way of saying I might be Viserys' second wife then no, he is wholeheartedly not what I am looking for in a man," Valaenyra retorted as her brows knitted in a frown.

Daemon wondered what kind of man she is looking for as a partner. Is it him?

"It's a family dinner, I thought you might have been invited considering you are family," she continued. "Consider this as me inviting you."

"Unfortunately, I can't, darling. I have some pressing matters to discuss with my City Watch. So I have to pass on dinner tonight," he smiled wryly and she frowned slightly.

"You do know that it is not good to skip dinner, do you not?" she said quietly. "Come at least for an appetizer. It will be nice to have a little family dinner with all of us sitting together."

"I want you to be there," she continued.

Daemon hesitated for a moment. He wanted to accept but he couldn't. The event in her room at noon and now has pushed him to a brink. He needed a whore to fuck or else he might just push her onto the wall and take her right there and then.

"Duty calls, darling. How about tomorrow night instead?" he asked.

Valaenyra hummed as she tried to remember everyone's schedule and if they are all busy with their own affair, "I'll try to get Rhaenyra to come. Aemma won't be able to make it, eating dinner outside of her room two nights in a row does not seem to be plausible with her condition, and His Grace will be quite busy with his council. I suppose you should be with him as well considering you're the commander of the City Watch."

"It's alright I am quite content with just the two of us for tomorrow's dinner," he said with a cocky wink and confident smile which just made Valaenyra to roll her eyes at him.

"I'll bring Rhaenyra," her tone signal finality. "Good night, Daemon."

She turned away, continuing to walk towards the private dining hall. The two guards on the door bowed lowly at her before pushing the door open so she could walk right through.

Rhaenyra smiled at her when she walked in which she returned her gesture. She curtseyed to the Royal couple pulling out her chair and sitting next to Rhaenyra, then poured herself some wine.

"Valaenyra, you're late. We're already starving," King Viserys jested.

Despite it being a private one, dinner was always a lavish affair, as it always was in the Red Keep. The table was piled high with food, and the wine flowed freely.

"Apologies your grace, I was inviting Prince Daemon to the dinner. Unfortunately, he has other pressing matters to attend to," Valaenyra stated.

"Well, he always has other pressing matters. Who would've known that those matters are more important than family," Viserys grumbled before turning his attention to his wife to make a small talk.

Meanwhile Valaenyra noticed a new silver chain that was placed on Rhaenyra's neck, "Is that a new necklace, I see?"

"Yes, Uncle Daemon gave it to me. It's Valyrian steel," Rhaenyra said, eyes lighted up with excitement.

Valaenyra couldn't help but bestowed her niece a smile, her happiness was very infectious to Valaenyra. She thanked Daemon silently for always giving them little trinkets every time he went off on his little adventures.

"I swear all the gifts he had given us must have been stolen items. All of them looks like they cost a fortune!" Valaenyra said with a laugh.

Although Rhaenyra quite admired her uncle, she couldn't help but nod in agreement with her aunt as they joked around.

"From all the jewelry that he stole, other nations might deemed us as their enemy already," Rhaenyra quipped up, adding in to the joke. Granting that it might have been the truth.

"Oh god! What if they'll come here to take my Myrish lace back? How could I survive without my beautiful lace?" Rhaenyra said dramatically, a hand was placed on her forehead like as if she was about to faint.

Rhaenyra laughed at her aunt's gestures and couldn't help but be dramatic as well. They had quite a fun time joking about her uncle.

Aemma seemed perfectly content watching Rhaenyra and Valaenyra interacted, she was grateful that her sister was there for Rhaenyra whenever the young woman required advice. Gods know that Aemma was busy enough with birthing Viserys heir over heir to give Rhaenya proper guidance and adventures, seeing that she always seemed to be bedridden.

At that moment, Aemma wished for a better future. She wished after the babe is born healthily and she is back to her feet, she, Rhaenyra, Valaenyra, and the new babe can go off on their own adventure and just be happy.
