"Liv? Olivia? Where are you?" Bucky's voice calls.
She heard him all the way up the stairs. How he burst through the door. That probably means another noise complaint from the neighbours. Sam keeps talking on the other end of the phone without her saying anything to him.
"I'm in here," she calls tiredly. Her tears stopped a couple of minutes ago. Sam has done a pretty good job of calming her down and distracting her at the same time.
"Is Buck there?" The voice on the other end of the phoneline asks.
"Yeah," she replies and smiles as a dishevelled Bucky rushes into the kitchen.
His eyes are wild, glancing all around. Scared. They land on her, and he releases a heavy breath. She can see the worry fade from his eyes and he strides over, crouching down so his eyes are levelled with her. He's carefully watching her as he gently reaches out and takes the phone from her. She doesn't do anything, lets him do what he wants.
"Yeah, I'm here, Sam. I'll figure it out. Just make sure everyone stays away from The Sokovians," Bucky speaks into the line. His jaw is tense. Hands clenching.
"And the sons," Olivia speaks up.
"What?" Bucky asks, eyes wide.
"The Sons," she repeats while staring at the cabinets on the other side.
"Yeah, she said the Sons," he reiterates into the phone. "How am I supposed to know that? I've been talking to you instead of her this whole time... yeah, see ya later, Samuel."
Olivia chuckles and looks up at him. "Full name, huh?"
Bucky gives a lopsided smile and slides down next to her. The leather jacket creaks, and he wraps an arm over her shoulders. She gulps, leaning on his shoulder and letting the leather cool her. The scent of his cologne hits her nostrils, and she relaxes fully into him.
"Rough day?" He asks, a grin on his lips as she glances up at him and Olivia snorts.
"You can call it that."
He gently brushes her hair away, spotting the cut on her throat and his eyes become dark. He gently swipes his thumb over the cut and brings it up to examine the stray droplet of crimson liquid, saying nothing. She opens her mouth to speak but her words falter as she meets the icy stare. Her heart skips a nervous beat.
"Who did this to you?" His voice is quiet and tense, anger barely restrained.
"At least, Zemo didn't pull a gun on me," she says and straightens her back. "I checked it already, nothing too bad so it should heal on-"
