Chapter XIV: OMAR
[November 12th, 21:00.
At the RFA's underground basement.]The vast screen in front of them automatically turned on and displayed the results of the DNA. The sample hair on the petri dish was confirmed to belong to Omar.
"The students are already searching for him. So far, we found one of the middle schoolers knocked out cold at the schoolyard, stripped of his uniform and ID," she mentioned. She turned her gaze on the assistant scientist as the rigid expression on her face vanished instantly."What's the matter, Miss Odval?"
"I'm sorry for having to drag you all into this, Jingmei," the young headmistress bowed her head in shame, "I always sensed danger around us and we can't really let our guards down!"
She then glared at the screen that showed Omar's profile. Professor Jingmei Frisk figured out this only caused her friend to feel even more on edge. They are dealing with an unforeseeable enemy that could be hiding in plain sight. There is a chance he is posing as one of them.
"He's dangerous! He should be rid off at once!" Miss Odval demanded.
"I'm sure Sir Jonathan and the others are on it. Also, I don't mind overworking," Professor Jingmei assured her. There is a tinge of zeal in her voice.
Miss Odval, on the other hand, has expressed the fear of whatever could happen to her newfound school. It is the only legacy that reminds people how they've fought their way to escape the QSPYWARSY. They are the country's last hope.
The crimson walls adorned with chrysanthemum patterns signify resilience, having risen from shadows of their past. They aren't going to let a silver-haired scandalmonger like him win over them. At the same time, not a single being was able to track him down."Have you tried doing a background check on him?" Miss Odval asked.
"The adopted son of immigrant lawyers, Hans Vogel and Emma Vogel, from Israel. A former police officer who is allegedly charged with identity theft and tax evasion. He is also involved in the missing case of Denmark Castillo," Professor Frisk continued reading the subject's profile.
"By the way, you're aware about Jonathan's complicated relationship with the Castillo family ... " Miss Odval uttered coldly.
"I am aware of that," Professor Frisk nodded.
The two women recalled how Jonathan and Denmark often clash with one another. According to their respective records, Mr. Castillo was actually Jonathan's father who left the Garcia family one day and married Denmark's mother.
"I admire someone like Mrs. Garcia for standing up for themselves and keeping her maiden name. It didn't matter if losing her husband could ruin their reputation," Miss Odval credited, "However, it also caused Jonathan to resent his father and wish that his half-brother never existed. He is quick to hold grudges."
She leaned back against the desk as her hands grappled on it. She had a hunch that Jonathan could turn on anyone and should be monitored at all times. Whatever he did to Denmark, he is willing to cover it up. This leaves them with two subjects under surveillance."You shouldn't be too hard on yourself, Odval! Everything's under control," Professor Frisk walked over to the coffeemaker and handed her friend a mug of coffee.
She ran a gentle hand on Miss Odval's greyish hair, noting her state of discomposure from everything they've been through together.
