Kaeya | Into The Woods

Every evening is the same: the villagers head back into their safe homes, shutting their doors and windows to get rid of the cold, winter air, as one by one, the warm glow of the lights flicker off.

And once more, the place fades into silence with the occasional sounds of the familiar wind you often listen to before drifting off to dreamland.

Lately though, you've been sneaking out of the village late during the night; it's the perfect time to escape to somewhere serene and comforting, away from the guards' searching eyes. Such getaways are all possible due to the hidden hole in the wall located in a far corner that you discovered one day out of the blue.

And you always immediately head deep into the shadowed woods, one that initially appears terrifying upon first glance until you're met by the beautiful stream of moonlight permeating through the trees, its gentle glow reflecting off the dancing ripples of the water.

Here, you wait at the same spot near the lake, looking for a certain navy blue-haired male who is usually known as the Snow King of the village you reside at.

Someone of an influential background like himself would generally never speak, let alone spare much of a glance, to commoners like yourself; however, the Snow King isn't like that, which is a reason why he's so favored by everyone around you.

But to even consider being in a romantic relationship with him is unbelievable, some would say impossible. Someone of low-class wouldn't benefit him in any way, after all.

"(Y/N), my love. I'm glad you're here."

"Kaeya!" you exclaim and return his feelings of affection, burying your face against his chest.

He chuckles and runs his fingers through your hair gently before pulling away to place his hands on your shoulders. "How does a date sound? I found a beautiful area where plenty of fireflies light up the night."

"Really? Let's go!"

As you allow Kaeya to pull you along to the date spot, your mind drifts to the first time you met him in the woods, all alone as he was resting against a tree.

You were worried he was going to report you to the guards, but it turned out that he simply needed a break from all the supervision going on—the immense stress from being constantly treated like a fragile baby puppy, unable to leave and do whatever he pleased without a guard or more following him.

So you both introduced yourselves and since then, started to meet every night, finding comfort and serenity in one another for you two both desire a nice place to relax at.

"It looks empty now, but the fireflies will show up soon," he murmurs near your ear.

While waiting for the fireflies to show up, you suggest making some flower crowns with the nearby sundry flowers. He agrees and begins making one with some dandelions, roses, and leaves, and you follow his actions shortly after.

Once the finished flower crown is placed on your head, he moves back and smiles, humming in satisfaction.

"It fits you quite nicely. Now we're matching," he says as he points to the crown you made that's currently on his own head.

You smile in response. In the corner of your eye, you notice a faint, yellow glow that appears to be floating up. Turning your head, you see numerous fireflies emerging from the bushes, all vibrant to create a lovely atmosphere.

"Kaeya—"

"(Y/N)," he suddenly says softly, holding onto your hand to get your attention.

You face him, confusion present on your face. His voice sounds so quiet, and the way he's fumbling with your fingers is evident of nervousness. Naturally, you can't help but think he's about to break up with you.

Your heart beats faster.

"I'm fortunate to accidentally meet you that one night, and even more so with each passing day. Being able to relax with you, surrounded by your warmth and kindness, is all I ever want. So..." Kaeya trails off, squeezing your hands tightly before he reaches in his back pocket.

A small, silver ring with a light blue gemstone sparkles up at you. The Snow King meets your widened eyes with a softened gaze.

"...I'd like to share every beautiful scenery with you from now on. Will you marry me?"
